I've been pretty much out of commission for about a week with what I'm thinking must have been food poisoning. Pretty yucky all around. But I was feeling better enough today to settle in and paint. Starting to feel a little stronger again. Side note: the paper is an off white, but much whiter than this. The house light bulbs give it this tinge.

Since I already did a commission today, a repeat of one of the American Irises, I wanted something very loose, watery, sloppy for my today's painting. My favorite part of this one is that tiny bit of yellowish in the vase. For the rest, it's swish, swish, but since it's so big, it does have "presence."

I was able to get this one done today, pretty much all day, but I've been listening to "sermons" or messages from the fine pastors at Covenant Life Church, such an inspiration, and it makes the painting time go by fast.

Oh, I'm happy with this one. I took a lot of time, and went gently with the glazing.
I wanted a lighter iris this time around. I was a little worried about using the yellow and blue in the forward petal (yikes, green) but with the addition of the lavender, it worked out okay.

This one was entirely experimental, trying to capture the feeling of hydrangeas, with loose watercolors. It didn't turn out as nicely as I had hoped, but if someone likes it... There is a touch of pastel here and there. The watercolor has possibilities,so I'll try this again.

The challenge this week in DPW (Daily Paintworks) is sunflowers, so I used the provided reference very loosely, and  swished a watercolor. My watercolor brushes are still buried in a box somewhere, but I had a few soft and clean oil brushes, so I used those.
