Sandy Creek - SOLD
Sandy Creek
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD at $85.00 plus shipping.
This one is bigger than what I've been doing lately, but I really felt like a creek scene today, and didn't have a medium size canvas. I love the two major colors here, Caput Mortem Violet (dried blood color) and Turquoise plus turquoisey greens. A couple of my two current favorites.

Orchid with Pastel Colors - SOLD
Orchid with Pastel Colors
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $30.00 plus shipping.
So, is there football on the TV at your house? Are there good Thanksgiving smells wafting from the kitchen? All kinds of goodness of the day. I hope you are enjoying your day, wherever you may be today, and are blessed.
This one has nothing at all to do with Thanksgiving. I wanted to try a very loose floral, since mine are always so tight and careful. Used my magic Escoda brush for the whole painting. The background is also loose, all the leftover cloud colors from the Chase paintings. It's kind of cool, isn't it?

Thanksgiving Magnolia Revised on 11.29
Thanksgiving Magnolia
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
Not Available at $65.00 plus shipping (see 11.29 post for revised version)
Now I don't know if there is any such flower as this, probably not. But I picked up this rich, velvety stem at Michaels and wanted to try painting it. The color of it is actually more "winey" than red, but it isn't going anywhere and I can try it again anytime. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I am truly thankful for all of you.

Chase Copy 2 - SOLD
Chase Copy - SOLD
Chase Copy
Shinnecock Hills, William Merritt Chase, c. 1895
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping.
Do you know the American Impressionist painter, William Merritt Chase? I didn't at all (which is no indication of his fame, really) but he was a teacher of Georgia O'Keefe, and his Long Island landscapes are just gorgeous. You can see some of his work here. The one I copied ( a portion of it) is called Shinnecock Hills and it's at the Smithsonian. It's just beautiful, full of ochres, sienna, beautiful greens, lovely. I will be studying his work more, I really didn't get it quite right.

Poppy Copy - SOLD
Poppy Copy, after Georgia O'Keefe, Oriental Poppies, 1927
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 14" x 18"
SOLD at $55.00, includes shipping.
I love Georgia O'Keefe's work, and such an interesting woman.
I do think that there's no better way to study a painter's work than taking the time to study it closely and copying. This one is among my favorites. Just studying closely how she blended her colors, all those sensual lines...yum.
