Seckel Pears 2 - SOLD

Seckel Pears 2 Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 16" SOLD. I rearranged the pears and did another painting, since I had the canvas, and these guys are too pretty to use just once. I had several offers on yesterday's piece too, so it makes sense to go with the flow.

Seckel Pears - SOLD

Seckel Pears Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 16" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. Kind of like all the long lemons, but with these gorgeous little pears that I found in the grocery store last night. Are you familiar with them? Called Seckel pears, they have two sided color, a deep reddish and a golden green. Just lovely.

Beach Ladies - SOLD

Beach Ladies
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 16"
SOLD at $115.00 plus shipping.
Another beach painting, since so many of you wrote to say I should do more figures. I liked the repose of the two ladies, contemplating, resting, enjoying the sunshine, one with her book in hand. There were more chairs and people in the photo reference, but I took them out...artistic license.

Pocket Lemons 4 - SOLD

Pocket Lemons 4 Oil on Stretched Canvas, 6" x 6" SOLD at $45.00 plus $5.00 shipping. Since I was doing a lemon painting anyway for my sister, I thought I'd do one more of the pocket paintings.

Lemons for Susan - SOLD

Lemons for Susan - SOLD Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 16" My sister-in-law wanted a lemons painting, so here's one more. These lemons did not want to stand in a straight line, so it's apt for a "Jansen", since we don't stand in straight lines either. But we do like making the best of what life serves up.

The Cut Through - NA

The Cut Through Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 16" Not Available. I actually got outside yesterday afternoon to do a plein air painting. Granted, it was the back patio, with quick access to bathroom and coffee, but plein air nonetheless. Behind my son's apartment on the first floor in this complex, there is a stretch of woods separating this property from a large church/school complex. People cut through to get to the road and bus system, and have created a nice little path just there. The light is wonderful to watch as it changes throughout the day. I've been meaning to paint it, and I think there will be a couple more, different times of the day, different light.

Classic Study - Grapes and Apple - SOLD

Classic Study- Grapes and Apple Oil on Stretched Canvas, 9" x 12" SOLD at $30.00 plus shipping. I didn't realize until I was half way through with this one, that I was using only blues, reds and grey mauvey mixes. It became a two color study, more or less, and I think it has a sort of "classic" feel to it. Very still, very quiet.

Poppies 2 - NA

Poppies 2 Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20" Not available, revised 9/8/2010. This one was on hold for a long while, but since I never heard back from the collector I am reducing the price and offering it again. Something bright for a dull corner, and the quick sale will help me afford my brake job ( rotors, yikes) on Henrietta the Honda.

Cream Cake - SOLD

Cream Cake Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $55.00 plus shipping. Another dessert piece today. Do you think I'm craving sweets?
Addendum: This painting has been revised from what was first published, and the photo that was posted to Daily Painters.

Little Tart Oil on Stretched Canvas, 6" x 6" SOLD at $35.00 plus $5.00 shipping. Just a happy little dessert painting, with lots of color. Fun.

So, You Want Lunch, Honey? - SOLD

So, You Want Lunch, Honey? Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 16" SOLD at $100.00 plus shipping. Details below.
I shot the photo reference for this painting a few years back in Ocean City, MD, and thought it would be really difficult. But it came smoothly off my brushes, don't ask me why. Really important decisions at the beach, like when do you feel like eating? The man seems to be thinking about something, and turning to his wife, who's busy reading...

White Hydrangea Two - SOLD

White Hydrangea Two Oils on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14" SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping. This, I think, is more to the spirit of the white hydrangeas of my concept. Lovely blues and lavenders, soft greys to indicate the shadows, and I'm pleased with it. Nice bright white to make a sunlit feeling. This one is available.

White Hydrageas One - SOLD

White Hydrangeas One Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping. I have an interesting request in the works for a white hydrangea. The trick with white is always what other colors to use to make enough contrast for the white to "read" as white. Contrast works, but you don't want too much. Here I tried to use a soft greyish green, some very light lavender, and touches of pink to make the shapes of the blooms. I used a palette knife for the leaves, a nice little change for me. I do plan to do another one, or maybe a couple more. http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/ NelVanL@aol.com

Tiny Cradled Iris - SOLD

Tiny Cradled Iris Oil on Cradled Board, 6" x 6" SOLD at $20.00 plus $5.00 shipping. This one is very small, on the cradled board that my collectors seem to like. The edges are painted, a continuation of the iris on the front. No need for framing. It would be a nice little corner painting.

Magnolia Series Number 4 - SOLD

Magnolia Series Number 4 Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 16" SOLD. This is the last of the four part series of Magnolia Faces. It's not quite this "creamy" looking.

New England Glow - SOLD

New England Glow Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 16" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. New England maples, or I guess maples anywhere, turn such glorious colors in the fall. I am very happy with this one, and still thinking fall color. Except for the weather getting cooler, I can't wait for the color changes here in Maryland.

Magnolia Series Number 3 - SOLD

Magnolia Series Number 3 Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 16" SOLD. This is the third in the series of four magnolia faces. Hope you are all enjoying a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Something about the fall, gets you revved up, doesn't it? To labor, get more done, all that good stuff. A quick notice also that my online class for beginners in oil is now forming. We start the week of September 14th. The class runs for 6-8 weeks and covers the basics of painting in oils. The cost this session is $69.00. It you need more information, just email me at the address at the end of this post. http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/ NelVanL@aol.com

Maple Dreaming - SOLD

Maple Dreaming Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 16" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. It has been cool here in Maryland the past couple of days, clear, crisp almost fall weather. The kind of days that make you want socks instead of flip flops. It also makes me want to paint fall colored paintings. So here's one for today. I've used the photo from Wauwinet Road before and I like this one just as well. Thanks for looking. http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/ NelVanL@aol.com

Lemons for Corinne - SOLD

Lemons for Corinne Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 16" SOLD. Interestingly enough, I haven't gotten tired of doing these lemon paintings. It's interesting to me anyway. I hope you haven't gotten tired of seeing them. This is the last for awhile. On to a landscape, and a couple more magnolias. http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/ NelVanL@aol.com

Lemons for Linda - SOLD

Lemons for Linda Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 16" SOLD. I am back "home" again after a nice stay at my cousins' beautiful home. I decided to just keep satisfying some of my request paintings. So here's yet another long lemon painting. They really are so fresh and crisp looking, aren't they? http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/ NelVanL@aol.com
