This pot filled with dried hydrangea branches has been sitting on my bookshelf all winter, waiting for the mood...gotta love these winter colors. I still want to figure out a more "massy" way to do these guys, but for now, same style.

I did this little demo, since we were talking about doing water, and how the brush stroke direction can help you get the illusion of water. You know when they start to complain about you to visitors ("Yeah, she's really mean. She picks on us all the time.") you've got a lovely rapport. ("Yeah, I make 'em work really hard! They can't get away with anything in here.")

A little palette knife painting, using up some mixes of greys and lavenders. Done with palette knife, so a lot of texture. An experimental painting using a limited palette of yellows and purples only, plus white. It does have a nice harmony, doesn't it? I think this palette might work for a winter landscape also.

Another one of my treasure finds from Tuesday Morning, the little shiny red pitcher (maybe an unmatched creamer?) I had it side lit, then tried top lighting, and liked it much better. It showed off the shine in the little pitcher, and made the mango more dramatic.

He doesn't exactly convey the delight I felt when I spotted him in the Tuesday Morning. There were 2 of them, one standing, terra cotta statues, but since they were each $15.00, I couldn't bring them both home. I thought I would justify my little splurge by painting him, but oh, well...they can't all be successful. I really didn't catch the red, did I? Anyway, I'm enjoying this happy little studio mascot.
