This is a bit of an experiment. I normally smooth and blend pretty much the entire painting, but today I just left things "brushy" to see how it would work. What do you think? You can see all the brush scrubbing throughout. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but it's different, anyway.

I like the sky and the colors in this one, even though it does seem a little bleak.

I wanted to try using the same reference photo again today (as yesterday), and make the painting a little less rambunctious, a little more controlled, without loosing the swish.
And oh, I'm happy with how this one turned out.

I wanted to see what would happen if I used really intense colors in a landscape, and this doesn't even look bad. (That's a really blue sky.)  It might be my lights. I have two daylight bulbs and one yellow bulb shining on my easel, and now I'm thinking that maybe that's just too much light. Often my paintings look washed out, so this is interesting.
