Clinging Winter Leaves
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping.
Although I worked from an old photo from Massachusetts, there are a few of these golden guys hanging on to the trees outside my Maryland apartment. I love it when the sun catches them, and become so grateful for their touches of color against all the subtle winter shades.

Revised on March 1, 2011.
Large Rock Creek Scene
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 20" x 20"

Since I was working on this creek scene today, by request (the larger version), I decided to go ahead and do a second one to be available. I kind of like seeing the different feel in the two of them.

Another couple of singles, to use up these tiny panels. What a nice time I had today, reconnecting, laughing, listening with some old high school girlfriends. We so need our "buds," don't we?

Apple and Chintz
Oil on Stretched Linen Canvas, 10" x 10"
SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping.
I was excited about this one, until I realized that I'd kind of lost the cups in all the fun chintz fabric. I've had trouble with these cups before, they are such an odd color of green gray. No reason I shouldn't be able to paint them, though. Hmmm. Another try, I guess.
Single Green Pear - SOLD
Single Green Pear
Oil on Ampersand Panel, 5" x 5"
SOLD at $20.00, includes shipping.
Last time I was at Plaza Art I picked up some little Ampersand boards on sale. But they are tiny, only 5" x 5", so I'll probably just use them for singles. They have red tinted clear Gesso (red acrylic paint) on them, so there could be tinges of red shining through.

A Little Less Boring - SOLD
A Little Less Boring
Oil on Stretched Linen Canvas, 10" x 10"
SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping.
My still life work, has been admittedly, traditional, but a little boring. Stripes help, certainly, and those are interesting. So I am going to try to make them a little less boring, for you and for me. More unusual compositions, different lighting, that sort of thing. Isn't this better?

Snowstorm Apples - SOLD
Snowstorm Apples
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 16"
SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping.
I am still trying to use more "lush" paint in my work. This one went through some changes, as I started it with the light on the right, and then we lost power in the DC area, due to a very heavy snow that knocked trees and power lines down all over. I had to change the light to whatever natural light was coming in my sliding glass door/window from the left. So everthing shifted and became less dramatic. I painted it with about five layers on as the apartment got colder.
BUT I painted! Hence, the Snowstorm Apples. (The photo shows a very washed out left side, taken with natural light. The painting isn't that washed out.)

Mug and Apple
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 8"
SOLD at $20.oo, includes mailing
Just trying to loosen up, and paint more directly. Problem is in remembering to "draw tight, paint loose." If you've got it in your head be loose, it's tricky out of the gate to remind yourself to draw carefully beforehand. This one should have been lower in the format.
