Inviting Path Three - SOLD
InvitingPath Three
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping.
I have my "reject paintings" hanging around the apartment, and sometimes one of them will grab my attention for revisions. This one had good enough bones, just needed some lightening and brightening. When everything was said and done last evening and this morning, I probably touched up most of it, and I think it's very rich now.

Sunflowers on Yellow - SOLD
Sunflowers on Yellow Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.
This latest batch of sunflowers is now starting to get droopy, so I think this will be the last sunflower painting for awhile. My florals aren't done though. I have discovered that they sell pansies in the fall. I guess it's a hardy variety that loves the cooler air. Only $4.00 a pot at Home Depot, yippee! Some pansy paintings next.

Sunflowers On Lavender - SOLD
Sunflowers on Lavender
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.
There was so much interest in the sunflowers last week that I bought another bunch at our Giant. Sadly, these are all the small sunflowers, but at least there were some leaves left on this bunch. I'd love to get my hands on some of the big-face variety. This is a slightly larger painting than the 10" x 10" series from last week.

Sunflowers in Abstract Yellow - SOLD
Sunflowers in Abstract Yellow Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
SOLD at $45.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
I actually really like this one. I started with a realistic effort, and then when it wasn't working, began to wipe off the canvas. Halfway through the wipe, I liked what was happening, and decided to "go with the flow" and this is the result. Cool, huh?

Lake Needwood Demo Painting
Lake Needwood Demo Painting
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
Available at $45.00 plus shipping.
This morning was an open house, fall kick off at the Chevy Chase Women's Club, and art teachers were well represented. I brought along my plein air gear, and set up for a little demo painting, deciding to do a landscape from a photo rather than a still life (which would have meant hauling along stuff to set up.) This was what resulted.

Mini Fruit Tart Sketch - SOLD
Oil on Canvas Panel, 5" x 7"
SOLD at $20.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
I know I bought too many things to paint yesterday...donuts, a mini fruit tart, some sunflowers, apples...so now I'm feeling pressure to use what I bought, and rushed through this little painting. So it's a sketch in oils, which is also valid. Maybe I'll try it again, take more time. Or maybe I'll just do the sunflowers....

Seckels and New Bowls
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $80.00 plus shipping.
Do you have a "Tuesday Morning" near you? What a great store, always different stuff, and in general, a treasure hunt. I got these new bowls this past week, along with the red and white dish towels, for a song. (The bowls were $1.99 each!) I also picked up 4 cups with no saucers ($.99 each), but they are stackable and paintable, and a gorgeous grey-green color. You'll be seeing them one of these days. Meanwhile, if you have a Tuesday Morning near you, go and have some fun.

Lemons and Bowls - SOLD
Lemons and BowlsOil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $35.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
OK. Although I worked pretty hard on this one, I'm not too happy with it. Something kind of boring about it. Or perhaps it's the shape of the polka dot bowl. They can't all be winners, right? But I figured with the colors, it might just be the ticket for someone, somewhere a spot of bright and blue might work. You never know.

Lemon Wedges with Kiwi - SOLD
Lemon Wedges with Kiwi
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 6"
SOLD at $30.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
This one took some changes. At first there were two halves of kiwi above the vetical wedge of lemon, and it looked so much like two eyes and a nose, that I really had to change it. It's a pretty sketchy painting, but kind of cool.
