Sunset Lakeside - SOLD

Sunset Lakeside
10" x 12"
Oil on Canvas Board
Sold at $40.00 plus shipping.
An oil version of the same photo as I used for the watercolor a few days back. The comparison is interesting, in that each medium has it's own joy. The watercolor is fairly unpredictable, but has a transparency and vibrancy I can't get with oils (at least not yet...). The oil gives me more control and forgiveness. Don't you love that little swish of "glow" in the water here? Thanks for looking.

Keep in Touch - SOLD

Keep in Touch 8" x 10" Oil on Canvas board Sold at $40.00 plus shipping. Playing with blue shadows today, some apples on blue paper with light behind and above them. I liked the way the apples were just touching. It might also have something to do with my wish to keep in touch with folks I've gotten close to as I plan a major move. Thanks for looking.

Dried Hydrangea Two - SOLD

Dried Hydrangea Two
10" x 12"
Oil on Canvas board.
Sold.
This is the same stalk as yesterday's painting, done a little bigger and with pink paper underneath and behind it, to make a shadow. Once you shine a light on a dried hydrangea, it's amazing the colors you can see. More subtle than this, of course, but really there. This one is on hold for a day for Laurie. Thanks for looking.

Dried Hydrangea - SOLD

Dried Hydrangea 8" x 10" Oil on Canvas board Sold. There's something so appealing about hydrangeas, whether they are in bloom or dried. I have been wanting to try some paintings with less color, more monochromatic. And this one is the beginning of that direction. Very loose application of paint today. Thanks for looking.

Morning Farmland - SOLD

Morning Farmland
10.5" x 14"
Watercolor of Strathmore Gemini 300lb CP
Sold at $30.00 plus shipping.
Another watercolor this morning, with less fussing and more thought to the way watercolor works. That is, lay it down and leave it, let the paper and the water do their own thing. I like this one, done from a photo I took on a summer morning, on the way to the beach. Thanks for looking.

Intense Sky Watercolor - SOLD

Watercolor on Gemini 300lb CP Paper
14" x 10.5"
Sold at $30.00 plus shipping.
A quick detour into some watercolors tonight. Playing with brilliant colors, not exactly a delicate watercolor, but you can get some intensity with these pigments too. Thanks for looking.

Iris Profusion - SOLD

Iris Profusion 18" x 24" Oil on Stretched Canvas Sold.
Done from photos taken at my friend Jill's house this past spring. Irises are my absolute favorite flower, so showy and fragile at the same time. Thanks for looking.

Dapples and Sparkles - SOLD

Dapples and Sparkles Oil on Stretched Canvas Gallery Wrapped Detail 12" x 16" Sold at $50.00 plus $15.00 shipping. Another woodland scene today on a gallery wrapped canvas, which needs no frame. I've shown a detail of the painting continued on the edges. The bottom will need painting, once the sides and top are dry, so the shipping will be a bit delayed on this one. I really like the combination of greens and burnt oranges, touches of citron. Thanks for looking. Have a wonderful weekend.

Winter Waters - SOLD

Winter Waters
9" x 12"
Oil on Canvas board
Sold at $40.00 plus shipping.
We've had so little snow this winter in the DC area, that the first nice day I could find after our snowfall last week, I headed out with my camera. The water was so lovely and dark at Lake Needwood, and bright snow with wonderful shadows, that I have a lot of good photos to work from. Using those wonderful winter colors again. Thanks for looking.

Petersen Road - SOLD

Petersen Road
12" x 16"
Oil on canvas board
Sold at $50.00
I've done another version of this scene, but without the tree. The sky on this one is very blue, and I'm happy with the way the tree turned out, dappled with sunshine. Thanks for looking.

Shady Road, Barre - SOLD

Shady Road, Barre
16" x 20"
Oil on Stretched Canvas
Sold.
This is another of the finish-up paintings, done on a red gesso undercoat, with a limited palette.
I like how the shade feels shady, a few shafts of light peeking through. The photo for this one was taken the same day as photos for "Naptime in October," what a gorgeous day that was. There is a little glare on the right side of the painting, but after ten shots, this was the best one. Thanks for looking.

Red Pepper Grouping - NFS

Red Pepper Grouping
Oil on Canvas board
8" x 10"
Gifted.
Okay, this is the last of the peppers for awhile. I can feel myself eager for some blue paint, some water, some sky. Landscape tomorrow, of one kind of another.
Thanks for looking, and for being patient with the pepper series.

Red Pepper - SOLD

Red Pepper
6" x 8"
Oil on Canvas board
Sold.
The last one in the series. This one turned out very nicely, I think.
I would be happy to sell all four as a set at $100.00 plus shipping. They would look great all lined up with simple frames. Thanks for looking.

Yellow Pepper - SOLD

Yellow Pepper
6" x 8"
Oil on Canvas board
Sold.
The third in the peppers series, and I was thinking today that maybe I ought to do a "parade of peppers" with four of them. Wouldn't that be fun to paint? Anyway, here's the yellow one, at the same size as the two previous. Thanks for looking.

Orange Pepper - SOLD

Orange Pepper
6" x 8"
Oil on Canvas Board
Sold.
A little series of matching sized peppers. I still have red and yellow in the refrigerator, so you can guess where this is going. Thanks for looking.

Green Pepper - SOLD

Green Pepper 6" x 8" Oil on Canvasboard Sold.
A lovely, smooth and shiny pepper. I loved the way the sunshine just peeked through the bumps on the bottom of this pepper, so quick grabbed it before the light changed. Thanks for looking.

Hillside Barn at Butler's Orchard - SOLD

Hillside Barn at Butler's
Oil on Stretched Canvas
18" x 18"
Sold
There is a high-point hill at the orchard, where kids can slide on burlap bags during the pumpkin festival; to the side is the corn maze which looked like fun too. We met there to paint, but I liked the look at the bottom of the hill, where the barn was just peeking over the hillside. Another finish up painting, but I'm pleased to offer it. Thanks for looking.

November Maryland - SOLD

November Maryland
Oil on Stretched Canvas
18" x 18"
Sold.
I'm so glad I pulled this one out of the trash painting pile (sitting in our little foyer ready to go to the dumpster). I was hesitating about it, and decided to toss it, then hmm, changed my mind. I added the path, opened up the sky, added more background, and voila! a painting I really like now. Thanks for looking.

Small Hydrangea - SOLD

Small Hydrangea
10" x 12"
Oil on Canvasboard
Sold at $30.00 plus shipping.
This one was painted in my friend Barb's studio, clipped from her neighbor's bush. It has an overall more "warm" tone than the one from yesterday, probably because it was painted indoors. I'm pricing the smaller "finish-up" paintings at $30.00 because they are part of the learning group. Thanks for looking.

Red Maple - SOLD

Red Maple
12" x 16"
Oil on Canvasboard.
Sold at $30.00 plus shipping.
They say you should go plein air painting in pairs, at least, but for this one I went alone, and while I was there, I surprised some deer in the abandoned barn. I think they scared me more than I scared them, and I found out they make a huffing sound up close. Another finish-up painting. Thanks for looking.
