Summer Serene - SOLD

Summer Serene

Oil on Stretched Canvas, 30" x 24"

SOLD.

Detail Below.

This one is BIG, for me anyway. It was an almost three day painting, done by request.
Lots of paint, and I took my time. It's based on other smaller versions of this same piece.

Two at Twenty Five

Subtle Iris
Watercolor on Arches paper, 12" x 16"
SOLD at $25.00 plus $5.00 shipping in the US

Blue Pitcher
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 8"
Available

Unless you're using a hair dryer with watercolor, it involves a lot of waiting time. I decided to do an oil between waiting times on the iris watercolor. I was trying for subtle in both cases. I'm pretty pleased with the little blue pitcher.

Study in Neutrals - SOLD

Study in Neutrals
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 12" x 16" x 1.5"
SOLD at $100, includes shipping.

Sometimes I think I use too much color, so I tried with this one to keep my colors subdued and soft, nothing too bright. I like how it turned out.

Summer Daydreams - NA

Summer Daydreams
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
Revised, Reposted 9/07/2011.

Another imaginary place, with sunshine and cool water.

Lavender Pansies - SOLD

Lavender Pansies
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 5" x 7"
SOLD at $25.00 plus $5.00 shipping in the US.

Thankful today that the storm only skimmed us here in the DC area, no power out, no damages. Thinking of those who suffered losses from Irene.

Hurricane Hydrangeas - SOLD

Hurricane Hydrangeas
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping.

Lots of rain from Irene, while we wait to see what she does overnight.
Meanwhile, hydrangeas and staying dry. So far we still have power, yay!

Broccoli and Friends - SOLD

Broccoli and Friends
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 11" x 14" x 1.25"
SOLD

Ever painted broccoli, those of you who paint? I was more excited about painting this one, than I am about the results. Maybe it needs more green? Done by request.

Orange Slices on Black Canvas - SOLD

Orange Slices on Black Canvas
Oil on Stretched Canvas (Black Gessoed), 6" x 6"
SOLD at $25.00 plus $5.00 shipping.

Oh, I like this one. This is how I want to be able to paint all the time, loose like this, but maybe a little more deliberate. I lfet little touches of the black canvas, and I think it adds.

Apricots - SOLD

Apricots
Oil on Stretched Canvas, Black Gessoed, 6" x 6"
SOLD at $25.00 plus $5.00 shipping.

I found this black gessoed canvas at Michael's yesterday, while I was interviewing for a new teaching gig (the earthquake happened while I was there, it was more a big noise than a tremble, I thought it was a huge wind gust.) I thought I'd try painting on it with some of the black showing through. I learned that it's probably easier to paint rich mid value colors, than very light colors over black. It was hard to get the apricots light enough.

Garlic and Shallots - SOLD

Garlic and Shallots
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 8"
SOLD

This one, small as it is, was a real challenge. I think because the value shifts and color differences are sooo subtle. But I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Done by request.

Onions and Tomatoes - SOLD

Onions and Tomatoes
Oils on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 11" x 14" x 1.5"
SOLD at $80.00 plus shipping.

I feel like I should be cooking up some spaghetti sauce with this one. It was a nice slow paintng today, the polka dots make me slow down. This one is gallery wrapped, and the painting wraps around sides, top and bottom. No frame needed.

Tomato Simple - SOLD

Tomato Simple
Oil on Canvas Panel, 4" x 6"
SOLD at $10 plus $5 shipping.

Since I was doing tomatoes anyway, thought I'd do a simple one for the blog.

Hooked Up - SOLD

SOLD

Lovely vine ripened tomatoes, done by request.

Lime - SOLD

Lime
Oil on Canvas Panel, 4" x 6"
SOLD at $10 plus $5 shipping.

I didn't get much done today, out of canvas at the moment. So this little lime is what I could manage, after wiping and changing my mind a few times. I did get all my brushes washed though, a major chore, and one I tend to put off, put off, put off, until it takes 2 hours to get it done.

Pink Peony of Summer - SOLD

Pink Peony of Summer
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD at $100, includes shipping in the US

Although peonies are spring flowers, no reason you can't paint one in August, right?
It's been awhile since I painted one, so here it is.

Yellow Pansies - SOLD

Yellow Pansies
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 10" x 10" x 1.5"
SOLD.

One of my extrememly patient collectors requested a set of four pansy paintings, all gallery wrapped, quite a while ago, and I'm just now getting around to starting them. Thankfully, people are very understanding, we'll get there. Right now I have no Internet, so if you write me, I'll be responding to email once a day or so from the local McDonalds. (Quite the thunderstorm last night.)
