Little Lake Scene 1 - SOLD

Little Lake Scene 1 Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping. I was talking to my "mentor" yesterday, who stopped by with some "goodies" for me (thanks, Marilyn!) and she mentioned that perhaps I was lacking a sense of distance in my paintings, that I should think about scale, working smaller, using smaller scale on small canvases. I am thinking about that, and tried to get a sense of distance in this one. I'm calling it 1 since I'm doing it again today.

Suncatcher Green

Suncatcher Green Oil on Stretched Linen, 11" x 14" Available at $65.00 plus shipping. This is a revised version of "Spring Forest", which I decided needed more dark and light, more sweet spring green and more work overall. If you like the broken color work, this one is much, much better now.

Unto the Hills

Unto the Hills Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8" Available at $35.00 plus shipping. Palette knife painting, thinking about those high green hills.

Marshland and Sky - SOLD

Marshland and Sky Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 8" x 8" x 1.25" depth SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping. Detail of side below. This one is just because I felt like painting a nice sky, with clouds. It's gallery wrapped, and the painting of the edges means no frame is needed. Always a nice consideration, saving you the cost of the frame.

Deck View Spring - SOLD

Deck View Spring Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. An overcast day today, sitting on the deck and looking out at new growth, all that lovely new green.

Little Lightplay - NA

Little Lightplay Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8" Not available, revised on August 28, 2010. A quick sketch this morning, playing with light and transparency.

Wild Azaleas - NA

Wild Azaleas
Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 10"
Not available, revised 7/11/2011

The azaleas are in beautiful bloom right now in Maryland, and the colors are stunning. I see them in the neighborhoods, everywhere. This is an imaginary landscape with some of the spring bloom colors tapped in. Isn't it nice?

Pink Dogwoods

Pink Dogwoods Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" Available at $65.00 plus shipping. Same view as the previous post, but under an overcast sky. And substituting pink for white dogwoods. I don't do buildings very well, so it's good to practice and work on getting better at architecture, all that perspective and all those straight lines.

Spring Greens and Dogwoods - NA

Spring Greens and Dogwoods
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
Not available.
Sitting on a friend's back deck, looking out over the suburban backyards, dogwoods in bloom, and afternoon sunshine. This one is actually nicer than the photo shows, lots of good contrast, lots of that lovely young green.

Mixed Apples on Red - SOLD

Mixed Apples on Red Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10" SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping. Revised from Apples on the Edge, March 28, 2010. I changed the background on this, and I think the color works better now.

Going Green - SOLD

Going Green Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8" SOLD at $30.00 plus shipping. I should have posted this one yesterday, right? All this green. Thanks for looking.

Light Play Landscape - SOLD

Light Play Landscape Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping. I had some lovely red peppers all set up to paint, but once I got sketching them, decided that today was instead an easy and fun little imaginary landscape. Just wanted to swish some paint on the canvas. With landscapes, where I really want to learn is how to paint light and air. Pushing in that direction anyway.

Golden Lit Creek - SOLD

Golden Lit Creek Oil on Stretched Canvas, 14" x 18" SOLD at $100 plus shipping. Not the best photo, but a really nice painting. At least I'm pleased with it. It's got a nice warm glow to it, and is fairly good sized.

Dappled Creek - NA

Dappled Creek Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14" Not available, redone on May 7, 2010. I'm pleased with this one, and it feels like a nice change from all the "window view" paintings that I've been doing lately. Nothing like a good landscape, and it seems there's a small series going here, creek scenes. Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/ NelVanL@aol.com

Spring Forest - NA

Spring Forest Oil on Stretched Linen, 11" x 14" Not available, see revised version 4/28/10. I always think it's a treat to paint on linen, but I forget to take advantage of it's fine properties, and wind up painting as I normally would. One of these days I'll remember to paint something fine and careful on linen.

Rocky Creek NA

Rocky Creek Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 12" x 12" x 1.5" wrap Not available, revised on May 12, 2010. Detail of Edge below. This one is gallery wrapped and painted around the edges, so no frame is needed. One of my favorite subjects, creeks with dappled water.

Polka Dot Bowl - SOLD

Polka Dot Bowl Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10" SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping. Another painting with one of the new little bowls. It's so cute, isn't it?

New Bowls - SOLD

New Bowls Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10" SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping. Do you have a Tuesday Morning store where you are? It's such a fun place to snoop around. I found this bowl set there, and I suspect that there might have been a third that broke, so it was on the clerance shelf. $6 for two cute bowls? I'll take it!

Early Spring Overcast - SOLD

Early Spring Overcast Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping. Another view out my window, this time under overcast skies. Love that mauve purple color. (Called Caput Mortum, or Mars Violet.) Yum.

Early Spring Sunshine - SOLD

Early Spring Sunshine Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at 60.00 plus shipping. The view out my window from today, cool but crispy and sunshiney. It feels so good to be painting every day again.
