While I was painting this one, I was thinking about the smells of outdoors in the fall. (In some parts of the country, anyway.) The light here reminded me of it, that balmy air and light of late fall afternoons, when the color is softer and the moist smell of leaves on the ground floats in the air. You know the smell I mean?
