Summer Marsh
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 12" x 12" x 1.5"
Not Available, Revised on August 23, 2018
Detail view of painted right edge:
It was a nice change of pace to paint on canvas again today, a completely different feel.
I do still like my wood panels very much, but this was also sweet.
Clouds at Sunset
oil on Wood Panel, 8" x 10"
Claimed.
I am starting to wonder if everyone out there is away on vacation. So, as a test, I am offering a freebie painting, just cover the shipping, to see if anyone is reading these email posts. Sneaky, right? Just a test to satisfy my curiosity.
Yes, I have some tomatoes: Heirloom, I think; Cherry and Roma.
I'm not sure about the grey lavender background, but I'll do some more of these lovelies tomorrow. Maybe try a different color.
Simple Marsh Sunset
Oil on Hardboard, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $25 plus $10 shipping.
Continuing with the sunset series, this one is setting over marsh grasses.
Smaller was indeed easier today, plus I got to go to the grocery store, a nice monthly treat!
Thanks to my good neighbor, B.
Summer Sunset
Oil on Hardboard, 14" x 14"
Not Available, Revised on August 19, 2018
After several days of work on this guy, I can say I'm pleased with it.
Mostly inspired by Sara's Workshop. The thrill remains, in site of everything else going on.
What do you say to a whole series of sunset paintings?
Workshop Sunset
Oil on Hardboard, 8" x 10"
Not Available< Revised on Sept 19, 2018
Last week Wednesday and Thursday I was able (thru a gracious scholarship from River Arts) to take a workshop with Sara Linda Poly. If you've never seen her work, you are in for a treat. It's just beautiful. Beyond that, she is a wonderful, caring and generous teacher with a good dose of fun and inspiration thrown in. We had a lovely time, and I came away refreshed and eager to try some new techniques and apply some new insights. Met some wonderful local women artists, a bonus!
So here's a painting I did during the workshop, with one of Sara's reference photos, which she allowed me to keep. I'm pretty happy with it. Doesn't it have a nice "feeling" to it?
Packham Pears
Watercolor on Arches Paper, 7.5" x 7.5 "
SOLD at $10 plus $8 shipping
I found some wonderful, lumpy, bumpy Packham pears at the organic food store the other day. They'll probably show up in an oil within the next coupld of days, but for now, here's a small watercolor.
Lemons with Pewter Candlestick
Oil on Hardboard, 6" x 6"
Not Available
The candlestick has a fun history. It was originally given by my Mom and Dad to my cousin as a wedding gift; the cousin whom I just visited in Georgia. She gave it to me for fun and to paint. I do remember my folks giving pewter and using pewter at home in the 60's, musta been an "in" thing at the time.
This is just an imaginary place, inspired by the lovely orange and yellow skies I can see peeking thru the trees, when I sit on my little back porch. I just wanted to play with those colors in a sky, and summer makes me want water...lakes, streams, rivers, oceans...all manner of waters.
Lemons and Limes
Oil on Hardboard, 8" x 10"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.
While away, I got some lovely new fabrics (from my cousins' "potential stash") and this one wanted to be under the lemons and limes. Looks good, don't you think?
Early Light
Oil on Hard Board, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.
This is the third time I've painted on this one, and I think it's as beautiful as I can make it. I won't revise it any further. It has a wonderful sense of light. It's also as cheap as I can offer it, so someone will be lucky!
Welcome to my daily painting blog. Here I'll post my efforts to paint one small painting a day, with a little wiggle room by saying five per week. I work primarily in oils these days, but also love my watercolors. I hope you enjoy my work, and as always, your comments are welcome.

And so it has taken me all of sixty years to understand that water is the finest drink, and bread the most delicious food, and that art is worthless unless it plants a measure of splendor in people's hearts. ~ Taha Muhammad Ali ~
