Dried Hydrangeas - Walnut Ink and Watercolor - SOLD

Dried Hydrangeas - Walnut Ink and Watercolors
on Arches Watercolor Paper, 11" x 15"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.

The hydrangeas I saved from my brother's yard, and they have the smallest tinge of mauve still in them. For this one I used a bamboo pen with walnut ink, with touches of watercolor.

Strawberries in Watercolor - SOLD

Strawberries in Watercolor, Pen and Ink
Watercolor on Paper, Image Size 6" x 4", Paper Size 8.5" x 8.5"
SOLD at $7 plus $10 shipping

I am taking a space to rethink my painting style and strategy. So few of the winter paintings have sold, that I have to wonder what I am doing wrong, besides boring myself and my collectors. Hmmm, time to think about a new direction maybe. Meanwhile, some "other" kinds of sketches and paintings.

Cold Winter Pond - NA

Cold Winter Pond
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 10" x 10" x 1.5"
Not Available

View of Painted side edge below
This one needs no frame, as it is painted all around top, sides and bottom. (Well, not yet, but the top and sides are done, and I'll wait to do the bottom edge until I can handle it, a little more dry.) The extension from the wall is 1.5".

Dappled Road

Dappled Road
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
Available at $20 plus $10 shipping.

I was getting ready to do a winter snow scene (again) today, but realized that I didn't have another tube of white, like I thought. Oops! So did a revision of an old painting instead, that only required a bit of white that was still on my palette.

Winter Stream

Winter Steam
Oil on Wood Panel, 12" x 12"
Available at $50 plus $10 shipping.

Brrrrr. No wading here, too cold!
But don't you love the colors?

Tangelos Times Two - SOLD

Tangelos Times Two
Oil on Wood Panel, 5" x 7"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.

No pecans this time, just the tangelos. Even though the box they came in spelled the name "Tangeloes", my spell checker seems to prefer the name without the "e". So be it.

Moss Pond with Snow - SOLD

Moss Pond with Snow
Oil on Wood Panel, 12" x 12"
SOLD.

Okay, I really love this one. I really like how the trees turned out; the winter colors of mauve, ochre, sienna and the touch of light at the tops of the pines.  It has a nice quiet mood, a little winter serenity.

Snow Covered Pond - NA

Snow Covered Pond
Oil on Wood Panel, 8" x 10"
Not Available, Gifted.

Spoiler Alert: The next painting will be a larger, square formatted version of the same image, a reference  photo I took of Moss Pond in Barre, Massachusetts.

Frosted - SOLD

Frosted
Oil on Wood Panel, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $40 plus $10 shipping.

This one is a little on the abstract side.
I just like the yellowish glow in the sky, and the sense of the change of seasons.
A bit of snow on the ground, but a few clinging leaves also.

January Pink - SOLD

January Pink
Oil on Wood Panel, 8" x 10"
SOLD at $10 plus $10 shipping.

A little color, a little thought of Spring, a little relief from the cold, a rose!

Winter Greys - SOLD

Winter Greys
Oil on Wood Panel, 6" x 8"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.

Going for the soft, warm greys of winter; overcast skies and soft greys in the landscape.
I'm happy with the quiet mood of this little one.

Fire and Ice - NA

Fire and Ice
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 20"
Not Available, Repurposed on May 3, 2018

I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed in my results. There are very few shapes here, except maybe the snow. The rest is line, line, line, and I thought it would be stunning, with the orange popping thru. And it took hours, with tiny brushes. I mean, it's lovely, but not stunning as I wanted. Hmmm. Goes to show, I guess.

The Yellows of Fall - SOLD

The Yellows of Fall
Oil on Wood Panel, 12" x 12"
SOLD

This is another revision of an old autumn piece. I thought I'd post it while I'm working on another winter scene, which wants me to take my time. Here is how it looked in its last iteration. I didn't change much, except to add some light.

Winter Sunset with Snow - SOLD

Winter Sunset with Snow
Oil on Wood Panel, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $45 plus $10 shipping.

A simple winter sunset with a reflecting stream and subtle colors.
The snowy landscapes continue. I'm not tired of them yet, but I'm certainly going through some white paint!

Snow Light - SOLD

Snow Light
Oil on Wood Panel, 16" x 16"
SOLD at $75 plus $15 shipping.

There's quiet here in this one.
But it's sunny as well, so not as desolate as the recent paintings. More crisp.
I like the hard contrast of the very dark trees against the white and light blue.

Cold Winter Stream - SOLD

Cold Winter Stream
Oil on Wood Panel, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $25 plus $10 shipping.

My Desolate Winter Places series takes a slight turn today with a bit of color pizzaz.
Gotta love these winter colors, even if you don't like the cold.

A Winter Place - SOLD

A Winter Place
Oil on Wood Panel, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $45 plus $10 shipping.

Another desolate winter scene, but it has some quiet serenity. I am enjoying these almost monochromatic paintings. This one does have touches of pink in the sky and reflections, and some blue in the trees.

Winter Farm - SOLD

Winter Farm
Oil on Wood Panel, 6" x 8"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.

I am drawn this winter to desolate places and the feel of what happens with snow.
Just exploring some of this winterish mood.

The Orange Glow of January - SOLD

The Orange Glow of January
Oil on Wood Panel, 12" x 16"
SOLD at $50 plus $10 shipping.

I wish that you could see this one in person. The photo does not do it justice, since the colors are so much richer IRL. The orange glow is much more evident. The pines are a nice rich deep, a lovely piece. (If you are a fan of winter paintings, that is.)

Winter Dusk - SOLD

Winter Dusk
Oil on Wood Panel, 6" x 8"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.

This is what the past few days have felt like, especially around 5:00 or so, at sunset.
Deep cold, done with a palette knife. Cleaning off some of the paint leftover on my palette, so I can justify fresh colors. I do like the mood of this little one.
