The iris is actually more purple than this, which on my monitor looks blue.
When I adjust my colors, to make the iris appear lavender, my background turns green instead of yellow. So, it just has to stay as is. Pretty though, it turned out nicely.

It had way too much odd color in it, strange blue turquoise shades, but I liked the overall composition of it, and thought it would be worth saving. The boards are way too precious to waste, anyway. And now it's more harmonious, I think. Better. You can click to see it larger, the texture is still all there.

Color me "Happy" with all the light in my new apartment, (3 rooms, 9 windows, the big old kind) all my brushes and painting gear, my standing lamps, (good daylight bulbs) and almost all unpacked. Well, not entirely, but working on it. Yesterday I got to varnish all my "owed" paintings, and will start shipping as soon as my box supply comes (free) from the main PO.

I'm especially happy about the light here, and my daylight bulbs arranged again.
This one pretty much painted itself!

I am charging shipping again, since the free or included shipping was by way of appreciating your patience, waiting for paintings. We should get back on track soon.

I've been thinking about what it is that I myself like in a painting, and beyond admiring excellent craftsmanship, I think I like "moods" or something with drama, a play of light. So I tried here to do something with a little more drama than usual. I think it turned out well, for an imaginary landscape. All done with a palette knife, so lots of texture. Sometimes (well, often) it happens that I like a painting in its early stages better than I like it finished.
Today's is an example of just that. This one is considered a sketch in oils, since I've left it completely sketchy and unfinished. I like it! Thought maybe someone else might too.

A friend brought me some nice little 6" x 8" panels, (thanks, B!) which are perfect for small fruit and veggie portraits. Had to use one, just for fun.

Also, here is a revised version of the Trees in Bloom, 9" x 12"on panel

I changed the color of the grass (tricky color) and gave some height to the background. The trees stayed pretty much the same, but I think this is better.
