Sun Dappled Summer Creek - NA

Sun Dappled Summer Creek
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
Not Available.

A bit of summer warmth and color today. Even with our heat, my hands stay cold, so it was nice to paint a touch of summertime.

Poppy Field, 12" x 12"
Oil on Canvas Panel, 12" x 12"
SOLD.

Simple Apple
Oil on Canvas Panel, 5" x 7"
SOLD.

The poppy field you've seen before, but this one was done for a private lesson, with a student who liked the reference photo. The apple because I bought some lovely apples last time I had my Food Stamps, and haven't eaten them because I haven't painted them.

Lemons with Blue Glass - SOLD

Lemons with Blue Glass
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8"
SOLD.

It was a treat today to work on stretched canvas again. The canvas panels are nice, but this is finer and nicer to work on. I used one of my new dishtowels, this one a good blue (thanks, B.)

Tea and Rose - SOLD

Tea and Rose
Oil on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
Revised and SOLD.

I have no idea why, I've done both roses and this tea cup within the past couple of weeks, but today, it was like I had two left hands, and forgot how to paint. I've been working on this one since 10:00 this morning, and just now finished. (A lot of wiping off and trying again.)

Light and Shade - SOLD

Light and Shade
Oil on Canvas Panel, 12" x 12"
SOLD.

A summery feeling for a super cold day.

White Roses - SOLD

White Roses - SOLD
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 10"

This one was done by special request, as a gift for a lady who has a husband and three kids, see them?
I guess the white rose is symbolic for the couple, with special meaning, and this represents the family.

At Rest

Sunlit Creek - SOLD

Sunlit Creek
Oil on Canvas Panel, 12" x 12"
SOLD.

In an effort to paint a little faster, I only used a big flat brush (1/2 inch) on this one. It's a little less fussy than my usual style, and the painting only took me 2.5 hours to complete. I'm not convinced that it's better, but it sure goes faster.

Snow Shadows 2- SOLD

Snow Shadows 2
Oil on Canvas Panel, 12" x 12"
SOLD.

One of my collectors suggested doing "Snow Shadows" again, but without the dead pine tree on the left.
This is what turned out.

Teacup 2 - SOLD

Teacup 2
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 8"
SOLD.

Another version of the Country Rose pattern in a teacup and saucer.
I put tea in it this time.

Snow Shadows - SOLD

Snow Shadows
Acrylic on Canvas Panel, 12" x 12"
SOLD.

This is what we did today, my private student and I.
I thought her's turned out wonderfully (good job, KB.)
The shadows on the snow are actually a different blue (cobalt) than the sky (cerulean), though they look the same here on my monitor. Maybe yours too.

Teacup One - SOLD

Teacup One
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 8"
SOLD.

This little teacup is my first attempt at painting a quite lovely set that one of my collectors sent me.(Thanks again, LP.) I was surprised that it came out as well as it did. Okay, I know it's a little wonky, but I'll do this cup and saucer again, with a more careful drawing to start out.

Autumn Light

Autumn Light
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
Available.

This is the first time I've used my photo reference for this one, and I'm pretty pleased with the outcome.
This is a larger painting, so with all the color, it does have some "presence" and I think a fairly nice mood to it, with the strong afternoon sunlight and shadow. I will certainly be doing this one again.

Clinging Leaves Two - SOLD

Clinging Leaves Two
Oil on Canvas Panel, 12" x 12"
SOLD.

I wanted to do another one, same size, from the same reference photo (my daughter's yard in Massachusetts), and this time spend more time on the tree trunks. I think it's interesting how two painings can turn out so differently, same hand, same size, same reference.
