Back Gate Revised - SOLD
Back Gate, Revised
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $15 plus $7 shipping.
I spent time with a private student yesterday, so didn't have time to paint paint. I decided I'd give this little guy another chance, and made the background lighter, changed the color of the fence, and the grass. I think it's better now. The plants that you can see in my border are a huge "butterfly bush" (the monarchs love it,) and some coreopsis from my friend J, which have spread beautifully.

Poppy Field, Summer Sky - SOLD
Poppy Field, Summer Sky
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD at $100, includes shipping.
I needed something big and open and spacey, after all the roses. This satisfied!
Here's a version where you can see the texture. I'm pretty sure that you can click on these to see a larger photo. Thanks for looking.

Roses: Searching for Simple - SOLD
Rose One
Acrylics on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
SOLD at $20 plus $7 shipping.
Although I like this one, I decided it's just to complicated for my students. They are all beginners, so...
Rose Two
Acrylics on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
SOLD at $20 plus $7 shipping.
I think this one might work for them, just one color, with some white, and some blending. I think I will tell them to do a darker background though. I may still change this one. Maybe a nice cool grey-blue.

Dog Creek - SOLD
Dog Creek
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD at $55 plus $10 shipping.
I've been meaning to revise the 'Creek" painting that I did with a palette knife, since it wasn't quite singing.
I'm much happier with it now, and I've also dropped the price. This is a decent sized piece at a reasonable price.

Peachy Rose - SOLD
Peachy Rose
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 10"
SOLD at $20 plus $7 shipping.
Okay, so roses are tough, probably because they are so complex. My students requested "roses" for next week's lesson, and I figured I'd start early to practice. If I can do something in oils, I can make the switch to acrylics, and figure out a lesson for them. This one isn't entirely successful, but it has some appeal.

Acrylics Lesson Available
Distant Farm
Acrylics on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
SOLD at $20 plus $7 shipping.
Dappled Path
Acrylics on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
SOLD at $20 plus $7 shipping.
These are two paintings I am showing as step-by-step exercises in the finished Mini-Lesson on Acrylics.
The lesson is now available (finished it today, along with the two exemplar paintings) at $20, and will be sent to you in three emails. It turned out to be 17 pages long, so I split it into three parts. It gives some basics about using acrylics, at least some of what I've learned so far, and the shows the progress of these two paintings in stages, with color notations and simple instructions.
Send an email to me if you want a copy of the lesson, or either of the two paintings..

Simple Restful
Acrylics on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $45.00 plus $7.00 shipping.
Since I have a few former online students who are interested in working in acrylics, I am starting to write my little mini-lesson on some basics that I've learned. Hence, playing with my acrylics.

Edge of the Woods
Edge of the Woods
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 10"
Available at $35.00, (includes $7.00 shipping in the US)
Sometimes it is freeing to take a "dead" painting (one that nobody wanted) and just go for it.
This one started life as a big yellow flower. I turned it upside down, and reserved a few bits of the yellow petals as underpainting. Yee haw.
Watermelon Paintings - SOLD
Watermelon and Plums
Acrylics on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
SOLD at $20 plus $7 shipping.
Wedge or Slice?
Acrylics on Canvas Panel, 8" x 10"
SOLD at $15 plus $5 shipping.
A couple of sample paintings for our still life class today at Michaels. One of the students suggested watermelon last week, a wonderful idea. Thanks, Miss S.

Pansy Quartet - SOLD
This is a set of four Gallery Wrapped canvases painted all the way around, so no frames are needed.
It was a commission from over a year ago, so I think it's safe to assume that the collector may not want the set anymore. I've shown one possible configuration.
Each canvas is 10" x 10" x 1.5"
SOLD at $200, shipping is $15.
That sounds like a lot, but there was easily $50 worth of work in each one.
Thanks for looking.

Forest - NA
Forest
Revised on 7/29/2012
Okay, this is better, but I've now lost the sky completely. I'll rework that tomorrow, and post again.
This is revised from the other day, when I decided that my forest was wayyyyy too dark. I added more light colors today. Now I see I've got a severe "V" shape, and no sky. Hmmm. Sometimes it takes awhile to get there.

Single Hibiscus Bloom
Acrylics on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12"
Gifted.
Bowl of Cherries
Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 10"

A few leftovers today. A couple of these were "mind changes," folks had wanted them, and then later decided to pass, (which is perfectly okay.) The hibiscus was a sample painting from class last week.

Warm Summer Colors - NA
Warm Summer Colors

Revised on 7/23/2012.
I was concentrating here on the warm colors, with cool accents.

Quiet Lake Shore - SOLD
Quiet Lake Shore
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 20" x 20"
SOLD
Last week, when I put up some of the larger pieces on ebay, someone bid on the 20" x 20" I called "Lake View" and was outbid. The collector asked to have a redo and this is what I got. He liked it. Thanks, Mr. B!

Lazy Landscape - SOLD
Lazy Landscape
Oil on Canvas Panel, 12" x 9"
SOLD at $25.00 plus $7 shipping.
Detail below:
This is a limited palette landscape, and it's lazy because I painted it at my friend Pastor A's home, and didn't want to lug along a whole bunch of paint tubes, so just chose some blues and orange. It's fun to see what you can come up with using just a few colors:
Blues: Ultramarine, Cobalt, Cerulean
White
Cadmium Orange, Transparent Red Iron Oxide
The model was a broken tree out in his backyard, with a bending branch (the storm we had broke a lot of trees) still attached to it's trunk.

Not available, revised on August 3, 2012.
Detail Below:
Another landscape painting done mostly with a palette knife.
Thanks for looking.

Orange Hibiscus in Oils - SOLD
Orange Hibiscus in Oils
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD at $80 plus $12.00 shipping
This is a larger painting in oils. I wanted to see what differences I could make between oils and acrylics. Of course the oils are much easier for subtle color shifts and blending. I do like the drama of light flowers on dark backgrounds.
