Wauwinet Shadows - SOLD
Wauwinet Shadows
Oil on Canvas panel, 12" x 16"
SOLD at $70.00 plus shipping.
A departure from the irises today, and back to landscapes. I'm really starting to itch to be outside, but today was simply still too cold and windy. There are robins though, so spring will eventually come to New England. Thanks for looking.

Iris Sectional Two - SOLD
Iris Sectional Two
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.
This is a repeat of the Sectional piece from the other day, with a slight shift in the cropping of the photo. Since irises are my favorite flower, and I've been shooting photos of them for probably 20 years, I don't think I'll run out of images for awhile. This one is more subtle in person, the colors are somewhat garish here, especially the bright orange, which isn't really that intense. Thanks for looking.

Lavender Sectional Iris - SOLD
Lavender Sectional Iris Oil on Stretched Canva, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.
Wihtout access to my Photoshop, I'm apologizing for the image here. Not as sharp and clear as I like, but you get the picture, (no pun intended.) I was able to install software to download photos onto my daughter's computer from my camera, so I will be able to continue to post my paintings, until my computer is healthy again. Thanks for looking.

Technical Difficulties...
Please Stand By.
Remember when that used to appear on the TV from time to time? Yes, that dates us, doesn't it? I went to post my painting for today, and fizzled my computer. Guess I've stored one too many photos, so no painting for tonight, although I do have one to put up. I'll see if I can't work with my camera and my daughter's computer tomorrow, but for now..."we are experiencing technical difficulties..."

Portrait Party Swap
Jana in Green T
watercolor on 300 lb Richeson Paper
NFS
My first watercolor portrait, and even though it doesn't exactly match the photo, it has a nice feel to it. This is Jana Bouc, one of the artists I've come to know a bit through EDM. We are participating in a Portrait Party Birthday Contest on the Portrait Party Swap blog. What fun.
You can see Jana's portrait of me, on her blog, and although it's done as a caricature, it feels like me. Anyone can participate, so if you're interested, the instructions are on the Portrait Party blog, and all you need is a willing partner.

Red Tulips Two - SOLD
Red Tulips Two
Watercolor on 140 lb Arches watercolor paper, 14.5" x 19" image size
SOLD at $100 plus shipping.
This one was done on thinner pape, which needed soaking, stretching and stapling, so the image size is smaller, but there's plenty of stapled paper to work with for matting and framing. Paper size is 15" x 21.5", or half sheet size. This is the more formal, straightforward version of the same tulips as yesterday, from a sitting viewpoint. I've posted the two side by side in the next post. Thanks for looking.

Red Tulips One - SOLD
Red Tulips One
Watercolor on 300 lb watercolor paper, 15" x 22.5"
SOLD at $100 plus shipping.
My oldest grandson, Jimmy, aged 9, was shopping with the family, and noticed the tulips. He asked his Mom if he could bring them home for me, knowing how I love flowers. Wasn't that thoughtful? I drew out two, and this is the first. This is the stand up version. I'll try to finish the second one today, which is the same vase from a sitting viewpoint. Thanks for looking.

Garlic Oil Sketch - SOLD
Garlic Oil Sketch
Oil on Canvas Board, 6" x 8"
SOLD
This one was just about the technique. I wanted to try paint layers in the background and foreground, letting them mingle. It worked for the background pretty well, you can see the underpainting showing through. For the rest, it's simply a swishy sketch, and if anyone likes it, please just email me and make an offer. Thanks for looking.

Breaking Clouds - SOLD
Breaking Clouds
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 20" x 20"
SOLD at $100.00 plus $15.00 shipping.
Back to the landscape today. This is a larger stretched canvas, but I just felt like having a roomy painting surface in front of me. Big brushes, space to move around. Here I was making an effort to use different grays, keep the colors subdued, to show a soft light. Thanks for looking.

Again Irises - SOLD
Wednesday, March 19, 2008
Hyacinths Watercolor - SOLD
Hyacinth One - SOLD
Hyacinth Two, with Inking added - SOLDWatercolor on 300 lb Richeson paper, 11" x 15" SOLD at $20.00 plus $5.00 shipping each
The smell of this small Easter plant is so incredible, it was nice during naptime to just sit and smell it. No studio painting today, since my daughter and I are doing "sincere cleaning" (as opposed to "need to clean" basis) for tomorrow's appraisal of the house. I'm not really happy with either one of these, but that's how it is with the watercolors, hit or miss. Thanks for looking.

Blood Orange Reflections - SOLD
Blood Orange Reflections
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 10"
SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping.
Despite the fact that the color on these oranges is just wonderful, lining them up in various ways was just boring. Round, and more round. So I put them on a mirror , and much more interesting shapes and shadows. I still might try cutting one up, see what I can do with that. Thanks for looking.

Irises Squared - SOLD
Irises Squared
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.
This is the third in the series, and although I'm not yet tired of looking at these guys, I'll move on to something else tomorrow. I will do more irises soon, but for now, this little series is finished. Thanks for looking.

Iris Close Up - SOLD
Iris Close Up
Oil on Linen Panel, 9" x 12"
SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping.
I had all thsoe lovely yellows on my palette and I wasn't tired of the irises, so I rolled right into this one after finishing yesterday's painting. I really like the cropped feeling of this image, for the composition of it. The last of my linen panels for awhile, I do really like the feel of this fabric as a surface. Thanks for looking.

Iris in Lavender and Yellow - SOLD
Iris in Lavender and Yellow
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.
I like working on stretched canvas, and I love the square format, so this one was just plain fun to paint. I think it's a good combination of swish and definition. Thanks for looking, and I hope you are all having a good weekend and avoiding the flu that's going about.
