Undone and in Transition - SOLD
Undone and in Transition
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD.
I have been discussing emotions with one of my earliest and most supportive collectors, who has encouraged me to try to put more emotion into my work. Even though I can't imagine anyone wanting to hang this half modern sketchy and half traditional painting on their wall, I thought I would try to show a little more feeling on the canvas. Apartment hunting and personal worries have left me feeling "undone and in transition." I'm actually rather pleased with how it looks.

Petunias Take One - NA
Petunias Take One
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 8" x 8" x 1.25"
Not available. Canvas was reused on July 25, 2010.
I thought it would be so simple, but the color of the petunias completely eluded me. I have lovely oil colors in the mauves and purples, so I'm sure it was "operator error" and I'm determined to try these guys again, see if I can't get the colors and that velvety look closer. Meanwhile, take one. This is another gallery wrapped canvas, so no frame is needed. Thanks for looking.

Burton's Island Revisited - SOLD
Burton's Island Revisited
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.
It's really hot here in DC for the past few days, makes me think of water; lakes, oceans, bays, being at the shore....so I paint it instead. I've priced this one low, since I need to renew my DP Gallery membership, which is the price of this painting.

Hydrangeas and Pears - SOLD
Hydrangeas and Pears
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 14" x 18"
SOLD at $80.00 plus shipping.
Are you tired of seeing hydrangeas yet? Maybe I'll give it a rest. This one is pretty big, compared to my usual, and though it was a little different technique for me, I am happy with the results. Here you see the entire still life, as I originally set it up, but this time with a cool brown glazed pitcher. The pears finally made it into the scene.

Cherries Perched - SOLD
Cherries Perched
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 8"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.
Correct color below in detail.
I included the detail here, since it shows better the color of the cloth napkin, which is a teal/turquoise color, very neat with the reds of the cherries. Another piece with the brushstrokes showing. Nel

Cherries in a Mortar - SOLD
Cherries in a Mortar
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 10"
SOLD at $65.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
I've priced this one high (for me), despite the size, since it has a lot of detail and took me the best part of the day yesterday, with small breaks to move the sprinkler around the yard. It's done mostly with the "apply and leave" style, which I am enjoying right now. Doesn't it feel French in some way to you? Maybe it's the stripes... I had to look up which was the mortar and which the pestle. Ahhh, this is the mortar.

Hydrangeas in Pitcher - SOLD
Hydrangeas in Pitcher
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.
Only one painting from these beauties? No way. So here's another, and I really feel as though I want to try it again still. I like the pottery on this one, little touches of light blue, dark blue, lavender, browns. When you study a thing, you start to see all the color nuances, and I love how it all works. Happy 4th to all of you picnicing, grilling, partying, watching fireworks. And in Louisiana, turning a neighborhood into a private fireworks show! (have fun, Natales!)
