I have been doing some hydrangeas (not posted) to fill a request, so decided to keep right on going.
This one is a bit different than my usual technique, in that I used a palette knife to apply the petals, and then went back into the bloom with just a few brush marks. The entire painting feels pretty bold and direct to me, hence the "extreme."
