This was a small "demo canvas" that I've used in class to show knife techniques, and I figured I would use it up. I had lots of blues left over from my hydrangeas, so here's what came out.

I have a request for a painting of hydrangeas, but it's been such a while since I painted them, that I wanted to do a warm up sketch. Also, I wanted to try a different way to paint these beauties, but this isn't quite it yet.

I spent the morning, and a good bit of the afternoon, trying to figure out how my ladies could do pansies in acrylics. After much fussing with glazes and retarders, and different techniques, I think I have a way that they will be able to do them. We'll see, but at least I've simplified things to be able to show and explain.

I've been watching the trees in the neighborhood (for plein air painting) and this one isn't blooming yet. So I did this from a photo of last years Spring in the "hood." Soon, very soon....can hardly wait. There will be more of this one, it was lovely last year.

I revised this one after class today, brightened the sky, made the tree more sensible, took out the statue, brightened the wall of the house, extended the front wall, and made the fountain cleaner. I think it's much better, and am also lowering the price.

I've had such a blessed Easter, thanks to my brother and his dear family. I got to go to church, and the service was lovely and inspiring, and then a lovely brunch, wonderful feasting, and kids playing well together, egg hunts....yeah, like that. I hope that you have all had such a good day.

I did this one yesterday, but it was too late in the evening to get a good enough photo of it.

This was another paint along with Johannes Vloothuis though this time I used the recording, and not the in-person paint along. His was done with watercolor, so it is an interpretation into oils of his piece. I think it has a kind of charm, don't you?

This one is done in acrylics, and I must say the color turned out much more "magenta" looking than the other two in oils.Cooler, more purple.

Simple study of sky colors. I'm happier with the mixed sky grey for clouds, but it still lacks veiling.
I'll keep working on it. I'm looking for the clouds to overlap, affect each other, rather than to just be different colors.
