Bougainvillea topping a wall, and a warm sunshiny courtyard inviting us to go look at the garden.

This was another paint along with Johannes Vloothuis though this time I used the recording, and not the in-person paint along. His was done with watercolor, so it is an interpretation into oils of his piece. I think it has a kind of charm, don't you?

This one is done in acrylics, and I must say the color turned out much more "magenta" looking than the other two in oils.Cooler, more purple.

Simple study of sky colors. I'm happier with the mixed sky grey for clouds, but it still lacks veiling.
I'll keep working on it. I'm looking for the clouds to overlap, affect each other, rather than to just be different colors.

This is what we did on Thursday, me and my private student. I wanted to see if I could do a textured painting in acrylics, and while the coverage isn't as good as with the oils, (click on the image to enlarge) you can still get some of the subtle color shifts. Since the acrylics dry so quickly, there isn't as much chance to blend one color into another. However, since my student enjoyed the technique, I'll probably teach it to my class on Wednesday.

I wanted a simple landscape this afternoon, and played with the sky.
Phthalo Blue makes a good sunset/sunrise turquoise color for sky, I'm finding. I haven't used it much, since it's a really intense blue, but now I will.

I wanted to see if I could do justice to really pale pink tulips. I think they turned out nicely, but a little graphic looking. Like they should have had more "modeling." Yes? But still a sweet touch for a corner somewhere.
