I am floundering with these, struggling with rocks, not really happy with either one.
There are a few nice little spots, but overall, I don't paint rocks with any sort of confidence. (Which accounts for the low price on fairly large canvases.) These were done as homework for the Webinar class I'm taking right now on "The Essentials of Painting Rocks" with Johannes Vloothuis through Wet Canvas.
I clearly need to pay more attention in class!

We have landscapes on Wednesday (my class at Michael's), so this is the one we'll be painting. I still have to do the pattern tracings and the instruction sheets, but I like having the painting decided on and done on Sunday afternoon.

It was nice enough today to be able to sit outside right in the neighborhood and paint once of our gorgeous blooming trees. Our colors are so fresh right now, bright pinks and whites, the early yellow greens of new leaves, fresh oranges on red maples....ahhh.

Because the sides of the canvas are also black gessoed, it would be fine I think, to hang this one without a frame. The depth is a standard 1/2 inch. If you decide to hang it this way, I can paint the leaf edges and bottoms.

We have a class on Seascapes on Wednesday, so planning and painting in preparation for that. Since we've already done dunes a couple of times, it was time to tackle the water. I think these came out fairly well.

I've had to cut my sunflowers way down, as they are fading and drooping. I think this will be the last of the series, for now anyway. Over a week, I think that's a good run.

I splurged on black gessoed canvas, and decided to try my white tulips on the black, quick before my models die and have to be tossed. They really are this droopy. I've painted black on the front of the canvas, but since the sides are also black gessoed, this one could be hung without a frame, and would look just fine.
