Where the Boys Go

Where the Boys Go
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 14" x 18"
Available at $75.00 plus shipping.

You've seen another one done from this reference photo before, but it's been awhile.
It's from an old photo of my grandson Jimmy, but it feels like it could be one of any number of little dudes.

Pink Hibiscus - SOLD

Pink Hibiscus
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping.

One of my students brought me some cut hibiscus from her garden this morning. They are so lovely, I had to try to paint them. And she brought me seeds, so I can try to have some in my own little garden next spring. Yay!

Demo Landscape - SOLD

Demo Landscape
Oil on Canvas Panel, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $45 plus shipping.

Soemtimes it's a good thing to just go on autopilot when you paint. I did the majority of this one this morning at a demo (the fall kick off at the WCCC), without really thinking too much about it. I was listening to presentations and then answering questions and chatting. I do like how it turned out, especially the water.

In Love with Landscape Colors - SOLD

In Love with Landscape Colors
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.

Don't you love the colors in landscapes? Surprisingly, there's not that much green in this one, but doesn't it work?

Deck View Study - SOLD

Deck View Study
Oil on Canvas Panel, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping.

The view out our back doesn't grow tiresome, lots of woods, tall trees and dapples. I've thought often about doing a large painting in late afternoon or early morning, when the shadows are so nice. I love all the variety of greens. Today I thought I'd try a smaller study, see how it went. Looks like it could work in a larger version.

Lemons, Mug, Bowl - SOLD

Lemons, Mug, Bowl
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
SOLD at $30.00 plus $7.00 shipping in the US.

This was an old one that seemed austere, so I have revised it a little.
This was what it looked like before.

Highly textured, but the colors were a little odd, and the white dishes seemed too stark. I like it better now.

Abstracted Creek, Palette Knife Painting - SOLD

Abstracted Creek, Palette Knife Painting
Oil on Stretched Linen, 10" x 10"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.

Lots of texture in this one. Done in an abstract manner with a palette knife.

Summery Dreams - SOLD

Summery Dreams
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping.

My collectors have wonderfully sharp judegments on paintings. I always know by the sales whether a painting is good or not. Well, acceptable or not. This one was originally posted a couple of weeks ago as "Summer Dreams" but it was too simple, the colors were a bit "off" and it didn't sell. It was not as interesting as this revised version. Much better now.

Rainy Day Blues - SOLD

Rainy Day Blues
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $35.00 plus shipping.

An excuse to paint, but I'm lazy today. The rain makes me just want to curl up with a novel. So this is an easy, lazy painting, lots of blending on an imaginary flower.

Got Gold? - SOLD

Got Gold?
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 14" x 18"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.

Yes, you're right, I'm jumping the gun a little bit. I guess I'm just eager for the fall colors. Isn't this one fun?

Forgotten Summer Blues - SOLD

Forgotten Summer Blues
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.

I was doing so many hydrangeas there for awhile, that this one got overlooked. Once I sat down and figured out who was getting what, I realized that this one was forgotten. So it's up for grabs.

Fall Apples - SOLD

Fall Apples
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping.

A touch, just a touch, of fall in the air, and these pretty apples in the grocery store.

Fall Riverside - SOLD

Fall Riverside
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 14" x 18"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.

My first fall painting for this year. Didn't it turn out nicely?

Shallots with Garlic - SOLD

Shallots with Garlic
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 8"
SOLD at $25.00 plus $5.00 shipping in the US

I really like the sound of the word "shallots." It sounds kitchen exotic and cuisiney, doesn't it? Fried onions for a hamburger just doesn't have the ring of "sauteed shallots."

Path Through a Field - SOLD

Path Through a Field
Oil on Canvas Panel, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $35.00 plus shipping.

A classic subject matter over a sunset sky.

Summer Serene - SOLD

Summer Serene
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 30" x 24"
SOLD.
Detail Below.
This one is BIG, for me anyway. It was an almost three day painting, done by request.
Lots of paint, and I took my time. It's based on other smaller versions of this same piece.

Two at Twenty Five

Subtle Iris
Watercolor on Arches paper, 12" x 16"
SOLD at $25.00 plus $5.00 shipping in the US

Blue Pitcher
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 8"
Available

Unless you're using a hair dryer with watercolor, it involves a lot of waiting time. I decided to do an oil between waiting times on the iris watercolor. I was trying for subtle in both cases. I'm pretty pleased with the little blue pitcher.
