Louisiana Sky Two
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping.
I stopped along the road the other day while running a couple of errands, and the sky was just wonderful. I did these from the photos I took of the sky. This is not unusual to see these July afternoons. The horizon did a fish eye, but it really is straight. Thanks for looking.

Gauchos on Yellow - SOLD
Gauchos on Yellow
Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 10"
SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping.
What I really liked about this one when I got it set against the yellow paper was the little sweep of orange light peeking through the space between the two front pears. It gets a little glow going there. Thanks for looking.

Gaucho Pears - SOLD
Gaucho Pears, with Detail
Oil on Canvas Panel, 7" x 20"
SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping.
I added the detail to more truly show the colors, this one isn't as green as the first photo shows. I bought these pears at our local supermarket, and I love them for all their lumps and bumps. New produce, what fun! Thanks for looking.

Red Boat at Scott's Cove - SOLD

Small Red Boat - SOLD
Small Red Boat
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 14" x 18"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.
To my eye, this one just simply didn't turn out. It's from a photo I shot at Scott's Cove along the Potomac River a couple of years back. The image was so appealing, but I couldn't do it justice today. Once in awhile, you just forget how to paint. It was one of those days...BUT I did find a terrific church! It's called The Dwelling Place, in Lake Charles. Thanks for looking.

Watercolor Floral with Frame - SOLD
Watercolor Floral with Frame, Watercolor and Gouache on Paper
Watercolor Size: 11.75" x 16"
Frame Outside Size: 22" x 26"
SOLD at $100.00, including frame, shipping additional.
My friend and gallery owner Marilyn Klevit gave me this frame some years back. She thought I might find a use for it. It's amazing the things you find when you unpack, right? So I did this watercolor and gouache to go in the frame. Of course there would be a mat or a double mat between the piece and the frame, but I set them together to show the colors. The frame is wooden, with a painted matte surface, and it has a bit of an Italian flavor to it. I think it should go to a nice home. Thanks for looking.

Bright Hibiscus - SOLD
Bright Hibiscus
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 14" x 18"
SOLD at $100 plus shipping.
My first hibiscus, and they are fun to do, all that lovely bright paint, and all that nice soft brush blending. We have a new one on the patio, which I promised my daughter to buy from her when I sold a painting of it. We are having fun learning new plants here. Thanks for looking.

View from the Carport
View form the Carport
Oil on Gesso Board, 8" x 10"
Available at $30.00 plus shipping.
Attached to the garage/studio is a car port where the lawn tactor and assorted large yard tools live, along with extra lawn chairs and such. A nice place to sit in the shade and look across the yards of the neighbors. Yes, I took out the swing set. Thanks for looking.

Calladium
Calladium
Watercolor on 140 lb Strathmore Gemini Paper, 13" x 17"
Available at $40.00 plus shipping.
Along one of the walls of the house, in the back by the pool, is a bed of calladium and impatients. These are just so appealing, though I know they are pretty common in the South. My first plein air painting here, sitting outside in the bed, taking lots of breaks to cool off. Thanks for looking.

Peony Dreams - SOLD
Peony Dreams
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.
The AC in my studio makes it really nice and quiet, cool and private. I wasn't quite finished thinking about peonies, so I sat in the coolness and used a photo taken in Maryland at my Mom's neighbors' garden (Frances). This turned out to be more about colors and patterns than the actual flower, but I do like it. Thanks for looking.

Louisiana Sky One - SOLD
Louisiana Sky One
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
SOLD at $30.00 plus shipping.
My first Louisiana painting had to be of the sky. This area is wonderfully flat, so the skies are big, and we've had really cool thunderstorms rolling through every day since we arrived. I have a feeling there will be lots of sky paintings. There are also lots of cows! That surprised me, I guess I never thought of cows in the South, not sure why. (So I put some in.) Space to breathe, geckos, armadillos crossing the yard, dragonflies as big as small birds...agapanthus, birds of paradise, calladium...this will be fun! Thanks for looking, while I continue to unpack and organize.

Dark Iris for Anne - SOLD
Dark Iris for Anne Watercolor on 300 lb CP Paper, 10" x 22"
SOLD at $90 plus shipping.
One of my floral collectors was disappointed that she didn't get one of the darks, so here you go, dear Anne. Click to see larger, and thanks for looking. Detail below:
So I'm packing up the paints, and storing the rest of my watercolor paper, until we get settled in Louisiana. This will be my last post until the beginning of July. It felt good to finish up today with the rest of the irises (see next post) I've promised. Have a lovely rest-of-June, everyone.
Three Siberians - SOLD

Three Single Siberians
7" x 14" each, Watercolor on 140 lb Paper
SOLD at $25.00 each plus $5.00 shipping.
These were so popular that I clipped a few more from the profusion in the yard, and did them all at once, stapled to the same board. Left to right, they are One, Two, Three. There were a couple of regular collectors who wanted some, but may not any longer. Thanks for looking.

Peonies Watercolor - SOLD
Peonies Watercolor, with Detail
Watercolor on Whatman 140 lb CP Paper, 22" x 30"
Image size 19" x 21"
SOLD at $115.00, shipping included
Until one of my collectors asked about peonies, I completely forgot them. The blooming season here is pretty much done, the blooms I could find were almost over. But I did remember that way back when I had drawn out a very detailed painting and still had it somewhere. I found it and finished the painting, which I had begun. The edges of the paper are storage-worn and there are a couple of nicks beyond the image area, but I decided that it was worthwhile finishing, the rendering was so complete, drawn from a bunch of blooms from Maryland, probably my mother's garden. Thanks for looking.

Last of the Pansies - SOLD
Last of the Pansies Watercolor on 300 ln Arches Rough, 13" x 13" (image 10" x 10")
SOLD at $40.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
A quick watercolor of the last of the pansies, as they wither in the heat. This one is a little brighter than it looks on my screen, but took the photo outdoors, so it may have washed out a little. A nice little change, looser than the irises I've been doing. Just so you know, I'll be stopping my posts sometime this weekend, until the end of June. At which time, there will be a whole new studio set up, new environment, even palm trees! as we get settled in Louisiana. Thanks, as always, for looking.

Salmon and Wine Iris - SOLD
Salmon and Wine Iris
Watercolor on 140 lb Strathmore Gemini Paper, 14" x 21"
SOLD at $100.00, includes shipping.
This is the last of Jo's irises, and they have lasted so well. There were a lot of buds, too, on the stems I clipped. I am pleased with this one, it went so easily. I am also very close to being a convert from a preference for Arches, to a preference for the Strathmore Gemini. It has such nice "sculpting" capabilities. You can easily add and lift color. Thanks for looking. Click to see larger.

Coming and Going - SOLD
Coming and Going
Watercolor on 300 lb Arches Paper, 10" x 14"
SOLD at $75.00, includes shipping.
I liked this one, another view of the purples, because while one bloom is done, another starts to open. I hope you aren't getting itred of the irises, I simply have to paint them while they bloom. Thanks for looking.

Frilly Purple Irises - SOLD
Frilly Purple Irises
Watercolor on 140 lb Strathmore CP Paper, 14" x 20"
SOLD at $86.00, plus shipping, ebay auction
This is another of the stems from Jo's garden. So nice to do these from life, for as long as they last. This painting had it's own set of woes. First, the pipes overhead in the basement sweated and dripped on it, and then the cat trotted across some fresh purple and made cute little cat paw prints (which I mopped up and bleached out) on the white areas. (And then gave me such an innocent look, sitting on the painting.) But it turned out in spite of the obstacles. Click to see larger. Thanks for looking.
