Night Lilies - SOLD

Night Lilies Oil on Canvas Mounted on Board, 16" x 15 7/8" SOLD at $100.00, shipping included to US Detail Below. It would seem that I am having a run of white florals. But they are so popular, and when you want to sell paintings, there is a certain consideration to what's selling, so.... here we have a larger version from my fake lilies. Not all canvas is the same. (Like the vast differences in watercolor paper.) I used a new roll of canvas, don't even remember where I ordered it from, to cover this board, and it was such a struggle to get this right today. The canvas was actually slippery, slick, and didn't want to hang on to the paint. So lots of careful "going over" and gentle, feather light blending. But finally...yes, I like it. The next time I use this canvas, I'll gesso on top of the finish first.

Wedding Vase and Grapes - SOLD

Wedding Vase with Grapes - Revised Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. The vase is circa 1944, and I believe my Mom got it as a wedding gift. I know she treasured it, even after one of us (anyone confessing?) broke it. It's been glued back together. Originally with a turquoise background, the buyer suggested a mauve, and right away it is softer, more traditional looking. I'm leaving the original photo here, just as an example of how much the personality of a piece can change, with a change of color.

Landscape in Olive and Sienna - SOLD

Landscape in Olive and Sienna Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10" SOLD at $30.00 plus shipping. I had a difficult and detailed still life set up today, but felt more like a little landscape, so this quick, impressionistic study is today's posting. I was prepared to work further on it, but it felt finished, so I stopped. Quick and swishy.

Spring Strawberries- SOLD

Spring Strawberries Oil on Linen Panel, 6" x 6" SOLD at $25.00 plus shipping. Three strawberries on a small linen panel. So many of the Daily Painters work on this size, and I give them credit. The small canvases are SO much harder to work on. Every little part matters since there is so little space. It could also be what you get used to, but for me, I feel so cramped at this tiny size. Anyway, I'll use up the panels I have. Thanks for looking.

White Lilies- SOLD

White Lilies Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping. It's interesting how used we get to our routines. I ran out of OMS and Viva paper towels. I was using real rags and linseed oil with industrial paint thinner to clean my brushes between colors, and having such a time getting my paint to behave. I am so much happier with my Viva and my OMS again today. Also picked up these flowers at Hobby Lobby to paint. White flowers are a challenge, but so satisfying to do.

White Bowl, Green Grapes- SOLD

White Bowl, Green Grapes Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10' x 10" SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping. I've never painted grapes before, and they are harder than I expected. All the colors, all the warms and cools in each grape, depending on the light. But fun to do. Lots of yummy green in this one.

Little Pink Rose - SOLD

Little Pink Rose Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 8" SOLD at $30.00 plus shipping. Another of my fake flower paintings. I liked the silk rose because of it's color variations, that almost orange magenta color at the inside.

Hello Magnolia - SOLD

Hello Magnolia Oil on Canvas Mounted on Masonite, 16" x 16" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping I am posting this from a brand new laptop computer, candy apple red (sounds like a car, doesn't it? My brothers bought it for me, and were thinking about fuzzy dice to go with it...I am very grateful.) This one is actually quite large, and turned out beautifully. The colors are different on the laptop, so I hope you can tell from your monitor the warm tones and nice mauves I got on it. Even though it's a white flower, I used quite a bit of yellow for warmth.

Little Magnolia Paintings - NA

Magnolia Sprig 1 Oil on Linen Panel, 6" x 6" Not Available, Revised Magnolia Sprig 2 Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 8" Not available. My daughter has a young magnolia tree in her side yard, and let me clip a sprig. I'm sure that the Southern ladies could have told me how incredibly delicate they are. Even in water, I could actually see them wilting as I painted. Pink on the outside, white on the inside.

A Certain Kind of Light

A Certain Kind of Light Oil on Canvas Mounted on Board, 16" x 16" Available at $50.00 plus shipping. This one is all shades of yellows, light oranges and greens. Olive mostly. To depict the kind of light that happens late in the afternoon. The Impressionists called it the "Golden Hour" and that makes perfect sense. It just is, lovely light.

Golden Glow Creek - SOLD

Golden Glow Creek Oil on Canvas Board, 12" x 16" SOLD at $30.00 plus shipping. More creek painting. This one was done from a photo that I snapped in Maryland, and if I'm remembering right, it was sometime towards late afternoon, and there really was this orangey golden light everywhere. So beautiful. I didn't quite capture it, but it was a pleasure to paint.

Hydrangea Blossom - SOLD

Hydrangea Blossom Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 10" SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping. I am using up old canvases again, recycling old paintings. This one used to be two trees, done for practice from Elizabeth Tolley's book, an exercise and never posted. I sanded it down and used what was left over as an underpainting.

Complicated iris

Complicated Iris Watercolor on 140 lb Arches paper, paper size 15" x 23" image size 13" x 20" Available at $75.00 plus shipping. A bit of a long and narrow piece, but also nice to do a watercolor once again. The photo I worked from was "busy," so the watercolor turned out "busy" also. I think it might appeal to someone, though. The colors are rich and striking.

Pink Iris 10 - SOLD

Pink Iris 10 Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" SOLD. This is the last pink iris I'll be showing for awhile. Thanks for the patience!

Pink Iris 9 - NA

Pink Iris 9 Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" Not Available. This one a bit smaller and a little more carefully rendered. We're almost done with this series.

Pink Iris 8 - NA

Pink Iris 8 Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" Not available. This one has the more delicate colors again. I used a large brush on this one, so it stayed pretty loose.

Pink Iris 7 - SOLD

Pink Iris 7 Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 12" SOLD at $30.00 plus shipping. This one got a little more colorful. The parade continues.
