The vase is circa 1944, and I believe my Mom got it as a wedding gift. I know she treasured it, even after one of us (anyone confessing?) broke it. It's been glued back together. Originally with a turquoise background, the buyer suggested a mauve, and right away it is softer, more traditional looking. I'm leaving the original photo here, just as an example of how much the personality of a piece can change, with a change of color.
