Backyard Lemons - SOLD

Backyard Lemons Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. This one turned out really nicely, I think. My daughter has five different citrus trees in her backyard now, among them a lovely lemon tree. The lemons are so pretty, they have a smoother skin than most lemons I've seen, very soft lemon scent. One thing I did not realize about citrus trees is the length of ripening time needed. All these trees: grapefruit, mandarins, lemon, orange and key lime have been growing and ripening since we arrived here in July, all summer long. I just had to do the lemons, you know?

Little Shore Scene - NA

Little Shore Scene Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10" Not Available, see November 29 post. This is an imaginary scene, made up from several different photo references. What I was most interested in was the colors in the sand, that wet sand color of lavender, gray, blue, pink orange. You know the color? It started out as a palette knife painting, but when that got scraped away, it left a nice base for the rocks. Thanks for viewing.

Yellow Pepper Monochromatic - NA

Yellow Pepper Monochromatic Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 8" Not available, reclaimed canvas. This little guy was actually hard to paint. The colors kept "blinding" me in the spotlight, all that orangey yellow. I had to get up and walk away from it often to let my eyes refresh. The little ones are fun to do, you can spend some time on the details.

Yellow peppers, Polka Dots - SOLD

Yellow Peppers, Polka Dots
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
SOLD.

The peppers on the lighter fabric show up better, I think.
I love going for the translucent quality of the skins where the light shines through. Thanks for looking.

Peppers on Peppers - SOLD

Peppers on Peppers
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
Sold.

Someone, I'm not sure who, suggested more peppers. And since I like doing them anyway, here are more peppers. I found this fabric when I went to buy them, and thought it was cool for a background. It was tricky to get the color of the fabric right, black fabric with light on it changes dramatically. I'm not sure that it was a complete success, but that's why we keep trying.

Avocado Half - SOLD

Avocado Half, Oil on Centurion Linen Stretched Canvas, 5" x 7" Gallery Wrapped, no framing needed SOLD at $25.00 plus shipping. One of my new favorite painters, Michael Naples, does the most amazing paintings, and several of them were in a series of these incredible avocado halves. Some of the paintings are of each of the halves and then a couple had both halves side by side, just beautiful. Worth checking out. So, of course, I wanted to try an avocado. Mine didn't turn out even close to his, but it was fun to try anyway. This little freebie canvas was a sample from Centurion, and quite nice. I was able to sit the avocado right on my easel next to the painting. The painting is gallery wrapped and painted around the edges, needing no frame, if that's your choice.

Maple Promenade - SOLD

Maple Promenade Oil on Canvas Panel, 11" x 14" SOLD. We've had such gorgeous weather here in Louisiana, it's like Indian summer forever now. Cool mornings and evenings, lovely clear sunshine and in the 80's in the afternoon. Blue, blue skies. So the fall feeling comes through, and I have photos from Wauwinet Road to satisfy my urge to see yellows. On a little side note, I've joined a challenge group to do something creative every day for the month of November. Sponsored by Leah Kolidas, I'm planning to put sketches on my Art Marks blog. Anyone is welcome to join. You might want to check it out.
