Easter Road - SOLD

Easter Road Oil on Canvas Panel, 12" x 16" Sold at $75.00 plus shipping. I've used this image before, but wanted to paint it again. It just seemed perfect for the Easter weekend. Can't you almost feel the sunshine at the end of the road? Thanks for looking.

Breaking Clouds - SOLD

Breaking Clouds Oil on Stretched Canvas, 20" x 20" SOLD at $100.00 plus $15.00 shipping. Back to the landscape today. This is a larger stretched canvas, but I just felt like having a roomy painting surface in front of me. Big brushes, space to move around. Here I was making an effort to use different grays, keep the colors subdued, to show a soft light. Thanks for looking.

Again Irises - SOLD

Again Irises Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. Now I thought I was going to stop for a bit on these, but okay, one more. Thanks for looking.

Hyacinths Watercolor - SOLD

Hyacinth One - SOLD

Hyacinth Two, with Inking added - SOLD

Watercolor on 300 lb Richeson paper, 11" x 15" SOLD at $20.00 plus $5.00 shipping each

The smell of this small Easter plant is so incredible, it was nice during naptime to just sit and smell it. No studio painting today, since my daughter and I are doing "sincere cleaning" (as opposed to "need to clean" basis) for tomorrow's appraisal of the house. I'm not really happy with either one of these, but that's how it is with the watercolors, hit or miss. Thanks for looking.

Blood Orange Reflections - SOLD

Blood Orange Reflections Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 10" SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping. Despite the fact that the color on these oranges is just wonderful, lining them up in various ways was just boring. Round, and more round. So I put them on a mirror , and much more interesting shapes and shadows. I still might try cutting one up, see what I can do with that. Thanks for looking.

Irises Squared - SOLD

Irises Squared Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. This is the third in the series, and although I'm not yet tired of looking at these guys, I'll move on to something else tomorrow. I will do more irises soon, but for now, this little series is finished. Thanks for looking.

Iris Close Up - SOLD

Iris Close Up Oil on Linen Panel, 9" x 12" SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping. I had all thsoe lovely yellows on my palette and I wasn't tired of the irises, so I rolled right into this one after finishing yesterday's painting. I really like the cropped feeling of this image, for the composition of it. The last of my linen panels for awhile, I do really like the feel of this fabric as a surface. Thanks for looking.

Iris in Lavender and Yellow - SOLD

Iris in Lavender and Yellow Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. I like working on stretched canvas, and I love the square format, so this one was just plain fun to paint. I think it's a good combination of swish and definition. Thanks for looking, and I hope you are all having a good weekend and avoiding the flu that's going about.

Sunny Shoreline

Sunny Shoreline Oil on Linen Panel, 11" x 14" Available at $65.00 plus shipping. The point of this particular painting was mixing grays. Is it grey or gray? Green gray and blue gray, with touches of warm, or touches of cool, even some purple and brown grays in the water. I was trying for the actual feeling of the shadowed trees in cool shade in the background contrasted against the glare of bright sun on the shore. Thanks for looking.

Orange and Purple Iris - SOLD

Orange and Purple Iris Watercolor on Strathmore 300 lb Watercolor Paper, 14" x 22" Sold at $85.00 plus shipping. This one is nice and bright, I love the combination of the purple and orange, fun to work with, really. This is an extra one that I had started last spring but not finished. I'm glad I took the time to complete it. Thanks for looking.

Pink Geranium Sketch - SOLD

Pink Geranium Sketch Oil on Linen Board, 11" x 14" SOLD at sale price. I bought two little geraniums in pots at our local florist, Goldsmiths Nursery, simply because there wern't any tulips or daffodils to be had. I love the fact that in a small town, you can go in and browse, leave money and a note, and never see a shopkeeper. I started this as I would any oil painting, but I liked it so well as a sketch that I decided to leave it rough, and really didn't blend anything but the cast shadow a bit. Thanks for looking.

Petersham Pond - SOLD

Petersham Pond Oil on Canvas Board, 12" x 16" Sold at $100.00 plus shipping. There were a couple of requests for this image, so I enjoyed painting it again today. This one is larger though (than the one from a couple of weeks back), and so I was able to fit in the overhanging tree and more background, which gives the little boat a nice environment, I think. Thanks for looking.

Distant Rain - SOLD

Distant Rain Oil on Canvas Board, 12" x 16" SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping. This one is noplace in particular. It started out because I wanted to use grey in the sky, and I also wanted to use some of the Elizabeth Tolley techniques and colors for the trees and water. Once you have sky, trees and water, you've got a composition and adding grasses gets the job done. Thanks for looking.

Marsh Morning Two - SOLD

Marsh Morning Two (On Hold) Oil on Canvas Board, 12" x 16" Sold at $70.00 plus shipping. A repeat of the other day's painting. This one is a bit larger and I used more orange in the sunrise area on this one. It has a similar feel to it, but still a different painting. Done by request. Thanks for looking.

Peony - SOLD

Peony Oil on Linen Panel, 9" x 12" SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping. Aren't you just eager for flowers, for growing things? This is from some photos I took a couple of years back in the neighbor's yard in Maryland. She grew wonderful peonies. Thanks for looking.

Minneolas - SOLD

Minneolas Oil on Canvas board, 8" x 10" SOLD at $20.00 plus shipping. Have you seen these? I picked some up at the produce place the other day, along with the tomatoes, and they have a Sunkist label on them. Beautiful orange red skins and these odd little knobs at the growing end. I had to try painting them, and got to use some of my more transparent paint colors. Thanks for looking.

Marsh Morning - SOLD

Marsh Morning Oil on Linen Panel, 11" x 14" SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping. I wanted something beautiful to paint today, and this photo of the morning light on a marsh did it for me. It was pure pleasure to paint. I am so grateful for the beauty that God gives us to enjoy every day. Thanks for looking.

Waterfall - NA

Waterfall
Watercolor Crayons on Richeson 300 lb Rough Paper, 11" x 15"
Not Available

New toys to play with. Lyra Aquacolors are a densely pigmented water soluble crayon (yes, crayon) that you can draw with dry and then wet to watercolor, or use a wet brush to pick up pigment from the crayon and simply paint. Very fun. This one was done as an exercise on depicting water for Kate Johnson's watercolor pencil class, and the photo was taken and shared by a classmate. Thanks for looking.

Tomato Six Pack SOLD

Tomato Six Pack Oil on Linen Panel, 9" x 12" SOLD at $60.00 plus shipping. I stopped with my friend Susan from church, at a wonderful little fruit and veggie place today, and bought these tomatoes, which really are on a six stem vine. Very cool. They reminded me of a six pack, a natural one, that is. Thanks for looking.

Grapes with Orange

Grapes with Orange Oil on Linen Panel, 9" x 12" Available at $50.00 plus shipping. I blocked this one in, and started to "finesse" it, blending, overworking, clarifying lines, but then, stopped myself. Before I got to the grapes and the orange. I'm trying to paint more freshly and directly. Aren't the grapes nice that way? Thanks for looking.
