This was done from my imagination, just slopping away and enjoying the winter colors. Really, if you can get past the cold, the colors in winter are so beautiful. This one will take a while to dry. You'll see why in the close up detail below:

The paint is laid on thick in lots of spots.

This is the same painting, but I took all the snow fall out, just let it be an impression of a white world.
No more polka dots.

I've been out of commission for an entire week. A strength-zapping flu bug that's been going around, which started out like a bad cold and then went into chills and fever. I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day under the covers, sleeping as much as I could, too weak to do much else. Today was the first day that I felt I wanted to paint again, and something very simple at that.

I hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas, those of you who celebrate the Lord's birth.
And I wish each and every one a healthy, flu-free; prosperous and happy 2015. Thank you so much for all your support and friendship over the year(s).

I have to admit that I had help with this one. My 6 year old granddaughter loves to draw and paint, so she sat on my lap (lap painting, Yay) and did the white snow for me. But only to the edges. "I can blend, TT!" So I let her do a little of that too.

Here's Kayla painting outside on the deck this past summer. (See the tongue action?)

It feels as though I've forgotten how to paint, it's been awhile. I got to have my granddaughter for the weekend, and of course, no painting then, but lots of play time.

This is Kayla, after church on Sunday. Isn't she a sweetie?

This is a revision, much improved, of the painting from a couple of days ago. It holds together better now.
I like the sky and the colors in this one, even though it does seem a little bleak.

A very simple landscape, but done with the beautiful colors of winter. Subtle red browns, ochres and mauves, some of my favorites, even though I don't love winter. Thanks for looking.

Today the sun came out, and made lovely shadows all thru the woods.
Lots of melting and dripping, since it went up into the forties.

Snow Coming - SOLD

Snow Coming
Oil on Canvas Panel, 12" x 9"
SOLD
Since I started with DPW, I have veered every day more towards asking "What do I think might sell?"
I had some good luck with a couple of auctions, and have gotten tensed up, trying for another "winner" Not a good way to paint. A couple of folks sent suggestions, and I appreciate that. I am going to try to:

• only paint what I want to paint, regardless of whether it might sell
• not repeat myself unless someone asks
• slow down (a suggestion from a collector)
• branch out and experiment (another suggestion)
• work smaller, and do more watercolors (another suggestion)

Thanks to those of you who sent ideas for me to get re-inspired.
This is a loose and sketchy impression looking out my window, with snow predicted tonight.
