Wrapped Grapefruit

Wrapped grapefruit Acrylic on Canvas board, 11" x 14" Available at $75.00 plus shipping. When we go grocery shopping, I generally look for beautiful fruits to draw, but I actually bought these because they were heavy and juicy looking. (Don't you crave a good grapefruit in the winter?) But one of the EDM (Everyday Matters, a wonderful Yahoo group) drawing challenges was to draw something in celophane or plastic wrap, and when I saw these sitting in their bag on the kitchen counter, I decided to try them. The glazing worked well for these. Thanks for looking.

Very nicely done - this has been a facinating subject, It is amazing how plastic wrap has showcased our different styles so dramatically.

You are so right about the variety of responses to this EDM challenge. I like your treatment of the fruit in the bag very much, but I'm even more enthusiastic about those pears. They leap off the page.

What an intriguing image, Nels! The plastic bag reminds me of bridal illusion. The almost abstract image makes a very interesting form. Beautiful job!

I'm interested in the EDM challenge you mentioned... what a great idea. I'll have to look up the group to check it out!
