Wrapped Grapefruit
Wrapped grapefruit
Acrylic on Canvas board, 11" x 14"
Available at $75.00 plus shipping.
When we go grocery shopping, I generally look for beautiful fruits to draw, but I actually bought these because they were heavy and juicy looking. (Don't you crave a good grapefruit in the winter?) But one of the EDM (Everyday Matters, a wonderful Yahoo group) drawing challenges was to draw something in celophane or plastic wrap, and when I saw these sitting in their bag on the kitchen counter, I decided to try them. The glazing worked well for these. Thanks for looking.

I love this!
Stunning painting!
Wow. This is really great. I recognized the plastic wrap immediately.
Very nicely done - this has been a facinating subject, It is amazing how plastic wrap has showcased our different styles so dramatically.
You are so right about the variety of responses to this EDM challenge. I like your treatment of the fruit in the bag very much, but I'm even more enthusiastic about those pears. They leap off the page.
I have been admiring you work for some time now. This piece is no exception, very nicely done!
I love your work. You have such strong colors!
The bag turned out so well.
Wonderful painting....you are an expert at acrylic i see. The red pears below are fantastic, too.
What an intriguing image, Nels! The plastic bag reminds me of bridal illusion. The almost abstract image makes a very interesting form. Beautiful job!
I'm interested in the EDM challenge you mentioned... what a great idea. I'll have to look up the group to check it out!
