This is my favorite of the peonies so far. It has some nice, subtle tones in it (which really don't show up much here.) More of a stylized approach today.

This attempt I went for a more yellowish cast in the front peonies.
A few more paintings, I might actually start to feel like I know what I'm doing, LOL.

I seem to have lost my touch with my oils, temporarily I'm sure. So I'm turning my attention to some watercolors instead, for a spell anyway. Maybe I'll have better luck selling these guys.

It was a nice change of pace to paint on canvas again today, a completely different feel.
I do still like my wood panels very much, but this was also sweet.

After several days of work on this guy, I can say I'm pleased with it.
Mostly inspired by Sara's Workshop. The thrill remains, in site of everything else going on.
What do you say to a whole series of sunset paintings?

Last week Wednesday and Thursday I was able (thru a gracious scholarship from River Arts) to take a workshop with Sara Linda Poly. If you've never seen her work, you are in for a treat. It's just beautiful. Beyond that, she is a wonderful, caring and generous teacher with a good dose of fun and inspiration thrown in. We had a lovely time, and I came away refreshed and eager to try some new techniques and apply some new insights. Met some wonderful local women artists, a bonus!

So here's a painting I did during the workshop, with one of Sara's reference photos, which she allowed me to keep. I'm pretty happy with it. Doesn't it have a nice "feeling" to it?
