Wanderings
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6' x 6"
Not Available, Revised on 5/5/2017
This one is to answer the question, "How much do you think you can fit onto a 6" x 6" canvas?"
In other words, how much detail? I know a lot of the artists on DPW do a LOT with such a small space, but I wasn't sure that I could. Maybe, just maybe...
Thanks to my nephew Sean and his wife Jen for the photo reference from close to their home. Of course, they don't know that I used it, but hey, you can do that with family, right? No need to ask permission. Just copy it from their Flickr.
Today a small watery landscape, in order to study clouds and rocks, again...two things that I (still) don't feel so confident about in landscape painting. I've seen what painters who paint rocks or clouds really well can do, and it bears constant effort.
Don Victor Honey
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 6"
SOLD at $25 plus $10 shipping.
Don't you love browsing in the foreign (to you) sections of the grocery store? Fascinating the foods that are available from other cultures. I especially like poring over the "Spanish food" aisles, and found this lovely jar of honey right there. I did go and scout the "regular, normal" honey, and there was nothing as interesting or appealing as this jar, made in Texas, with a comb tucked inside.
Plums with Strawberry
Oil on Linen Panel, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.
This one used to have polka dots in the background. (April 15th post.) I painted them out easily enough, and shaded the front of the sandstone pedestal. Cleaner for sure.

Done from a lovely card sent to me by my dear friend B. Photo taken in the beauty of a Massachusetts fall.

And just for fun, I thought I would also include the actual still life. Though by the time I shot this photo, I had turned my light off, so the highlights are missing.
Monet's Garden
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD
This one was a bit of a trick. It was done from a follow-along with Johannes, but with much revision, since he was working small in pastels, which is a much more layering medium than oils, and I am working large in oils. After some struggling, though, I'm happy with the results.
Welcome to my daily painting blog. Here I'll post my efforts to paint one small painting a day, with a little wiggle room by saying five per week. I work primarily in oils these days, but also love my watercolors. I hope you enjoy my work, and as always, your comments are welcome.

And so it has taken me all of sixty years to understand that water is the finest drink, and bread the most delicious food, and that art is worthless unless it plants a measure of splendor in people's hearts. ~ Taha Muhammad Ali ~
