Mostly I wanted to see if this canvas would behave beter wih gesso on it, and indeed it did. So now I know. The iris just caught my eye in my photo stack, and I cropped the photo to a square. Don't you like how rich that deep, deep red-purple is? The touch of cobalt blue is almost icy next to the darks.
