I wanted a landscape today, so this is a simple, imaginary scene.
Disclosure: A student had two torn canvases which she gave to me, and I repaired them. The 1.5" tear on this one was glued,  and then filled and gessoed, so it does not show at all on the outside of the canvas. This should  not effect the longevity of the painting.

This was a repeat style piece done by request, but since it turned out quite differently from the original, the collector decided to pass on it. Which now makes it available for someone else. Fun to paint, since with the little white spaces, you can paint without waiting for everything to dry first.

This was the original, revised to the above. Much better, I think, less emphasis on the rocks, more moodiness to it.

Does anyone know how to revert to the "old" blogger? It's gone automatically to a new version, which isn't really working very well for me. All sorts of little things I can't do anymore.

I took my time with this one, since I've been doing swishy and sketchy pieces lately, and it felt like time to slow down and do a more careful painting today. I think it works well in the canvas format here. And I really like the colors working together.

I have spent part of my day drooling over some truly talented artists, Kathy Anderson, Kathy Anderson Studios, who does some splendid and lovely florals, (and I tried to make these pansies a little like what she does), and David Shevlino , who was a judge for this past months RayMar art entries. He does gorgeous and loose work, and I watched every one of his DVD clips, wishing I could get some of his DVDs. Anyway, two amazing artists to check out.

An impression of my woods in the backyard, where a precious little white dogwood has volunteered. I'm glad I painted it when I did, as we've had rain the past couple of days, which has caused most of the petals to fall. I think I might try this in acrylics, to catch more of the sense of layers. But I'm pretty happy with this one.

Although I'm always drawn to plein aire painting, I also always get a frantic feeling when I'm working outdoors. Same thing happened today, but maybe it's matter of practice. It feels rushed, no matter what I do to slow down.
Behind the neighbors' is a lovely red maple, and with a blue tinged pine tree behind it, and the sunlight hitting it just so, it's gorgeous. I didn't really capture it, but this one has a flavor of it's own anyway. Thanks for looking!
