You can almost smell the ozone. The move is still ongoing, (my grey mood maybe?) more trips back to the old place, boxes everywhere in the new place, oh, la. Kids running around, U-Haul got stuck in the mud when the guys tried to save some steps and drove it into the grass. What a mess. I got settled enough to paint though, so we are getting back on track. I think I'll add a few dots of white in the water to represent those "first few drops."

I've had the photo reference for this one knocking around for about 5 years, ever since I took a weekend plein air class with Beth Kinsella Cople. The class met on the Eastern Shore, and it was wonderful. So today I dragged out the photo and used it as reference for this piece. My online class is doing landscapes this week, and some of the students want to paint water, so this one will become a step-by-step for them.

The little one was done by request, but I used the wrong size canvas (oops!) and since I had all the nice blues out, I added some purples, magentas and lavenders and did a square format also. Cherries are in season, Yay! One of the advantages of working small is less space to cover, and the big disadvantage is having to paint so tiny, use tiny brushes, and take such careful aim with your hand. A nice little change from the sunflowers.
