Gouache Painting - SOLD
Gouache on Tinted Paper, 10" x 12.5" (Image Size)
SOLD at $13 plus $10 shipping.
Gouache is a sort of concentrated and opaque watercolor. More like the poster paint we used to use as kids in school, but a lot finer. You can use it on paper, or canvas.
The paper is a nice, thick Magnani cotton sheet, but it has a buff, goldish tone to it. Probably not the best choice for the whites and blues here, but this one is an experiment anyway. I love the gouache, but I'm not adept at using it, so there are some spots with oodles of layers here, to build up the opacity, and some not.
It is what it is, an experiment.

SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.

Since I already did a commission today, a repeat of one of the American Irises, I wanted something very loose, watery, sloppy for my today's painting. My favorite part of this one is that tiny bit of yellowish in the vase. For the rest, it's swish, swish, but since it's so big, it does have "presence."

SOLD at $40 plus $10 shipping.

I was able to get this one done today, pretty much all day, but I've been listening to "sermons" or messages from the fine pastors at Covenant Life Church, such an inspiration, and it makes the painting time go by fast.
(From the home page, go to resources, and you can pick and choose by pastor, topic, series, scripture...)
Anyway, this one is from the same reference I used the other day, but larger this time.

I'm pretty happy with this one.
I like the bits of orange, and the touches of gouache for the white fringes.

Didn't this one turn out nicely?
I like how the white pops against the dark colors, even though there really isn't much white left here.
Hope you all are having a blessed Easter weekend.

I decided that since there was so much color already in this one, that I would leave the background as the white paper. Fun to use the oranges, pinks, and mauve's together.

Detail (Close Up) Below:
Oh, I'm happy with this one. I took a lot of time, and went gently with the glazing.
I wanted a lighter iris this time around. I was a little worried about using the yellow and blue in the forward petal (yikes, green) but with the addition of the lavender, it worked out okay.

The American Iris Society has a lovely blog, where I found a treasure trove of beautiful iris photos. Which of course, suggests a series, and I decided on squares. This one is an 8" x 8".

Stand of Pines - SOLD
Oil on Gessoed Watercolor Paper, 11.5" x 15.5"
SOLD at $12 plus $10 shipping.
This one is experimental, an oil done on watercolor paper.
I Gessoed the watercolor paper first, and it was good to paint on, not too absorbent, with a bit of texture still remaining, so I'm guessing that it will be okay, but I'm not sure how archival it might be. I'm pricing it as materials plus shipping.

I wanted to try one more hydrangea, but in detailed fashion, petal by petal.

You could crop it to a square:

This one was entirely experimental, trying to capture the feeling of hydrangeas, with loose watercolors. It didn't turn out as nicely as I had hoped, but if someone likes it... There is a touch of pastel here and there. The watercolor has possibilities,so I'll try this again.
