I was way out of my comfort zone on this one, which was done as a follow-along painting with Johannes Vloothuis yesterday. The 6 hour class was through a video stream. His palette is different than mine, and I couldn't get the reference photos (later I used Firefox and was able to get them) he was using, so I really was limping along.(Besides not "knowing" mountains.) But I thought it might appeal to someone, so here we are.

I finished up revisions on a large canvas today, done by request, so for the blog, I just wanted to redo an older canvas. Using the palette knife technique with color merges, this evolved. You can click on the image to see some of the texture.

It's been awhile since I did anything complicated with a still life, but I was gifted some treasures from Tuesday Morning, (thanks so much, B.) and a couple of new dish towels were calling me to paint them. The cloth here is a graphic artichoke design, and I love the colors. The light is actually a soft cream color, not white.

I softened the hard lines of the road, balanced the foliage a little more, and reshaped to simplify some of the cast shadows. I also added dropped leaves in the road, which makes more sense.

The fence looks so bare now, since the Morning Glories got nipped, and I had to tear them all down.
