This is sort of an indoor out painting. I sat outside for awhile, memorizing what I was seeing, then came back in and painted, then back out again....

Soemtimes it's a good thing to just go on autopilot when you paint. I did the majority of this one this morning at a demo (the fall kick off at the WCCC), without really thinking too much about it. I was listening to presentations and then answering questions and chatting. I do like how it turned out, especially the water.

The view out our back doesn't grow tiresome, lots of woods, tall trees and dapples. I've thought often about doing a large painting in late afternoon or early morning, when the shadows are so nice. I love all the variety of greens. Today I thought I'd try a smaller study, see how it went. Looks like it could work in a larger version.

Highly textured, but the colors were a little odd, and the white dishes seemed too stark. I like it better now.

My collectors have wonderfully sharp judegments on paintings. I always know by the sales whether a painting is good or not. Well, acceptable or not. This one was originally posted a couple of weeks ago as "Summer Dreams" but it was too simple, the colors were a bit "off" and it didn't sell. It was not as interesting as this revised version. Much better now.
