The Last Sunflowers - SOLD

The Last Sunflowers
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping.

There were 2 bunches of somewhat sad looking sunflowers still at my local Giant, so I picked the better looking bunch and brought them home. I don't think there will be any more this year, so I'll do the best I can with this last bunch.

Yellow Onions - SOLD

Yellow Onions Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8" SOLD at $40.00 plus $5.00 shipping. There have been so many beautiful onion paintings lately, that I wanted to try one too. Not as easy as you would think. Pinks, oranges, yellows, purples, sienna, all these colors in an onion.

Irises in Lavenders - SOLD

Irises in Lavenders Watercolor on Arches 300 lb paper, image size 19" x 25" SOLD. The image editing software I used today rendered this one a little washed out, but the colors are pretty rich. Done by request. Thanks for looking.

Plein Air Lake Needwood - SOLD

Plein Air Lake Needwood Oil on Stretched Linen, 9" x 12" SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.

OK, today was a plein air afternoon, and the day could not have been any more beautiful. Bright sunshine, clear skies, only a slight breeze. It was good to be out in the day, painting, and I got some nice photos taking a walk around the lake.

Two Taylor Pears - SOLD

Two Taylor Pears Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8" SOLD at $45.00 plus $5.00 shipping. Didn't want to just do one painting with these neat pears, so here's another. Happy weekend, everyone.

Green Vase with Taylor Pears - SOLD

Green Vase with Taylor Pears Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. I got some new dish towels at Tuesday Morning, and then found these Taylor pears at the grocery store, a match that I couldn't pass up. Then at a close out of our local Super Fresh, a nice little glazed vase for two bucks. And there you go.

Salt and Pepper - SOLD

Salt and Pepper Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 8" SOLD at $20.00 plus $5.00 shipping. A cute little piece that has been sitting in my "reject box" for awhile. I like it, not sure why it never sold. But I thought I'd give it another chance to find a kitchen to hang in, a new home.

Peony Bud Opening - SOLD

Peony Bud Opening Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 16" Revised on Nov 9, 2010. SOLD I sometimes like to do these larger paintings, especially portraits of flowers. Makes me feel a little like Georgia, well, just kidding. But it is fun once in awhile. The red ones are harder, since most of my red colors are somewhat transparent, and it takes a lot of blending to get it all looking right. Thanks for looking!

Barn in Fall - SOLD

Barn in Fall Oil on Linen, 11" x 14" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. Linen is such a treat to work on, it just has a different feel to it from cotton canvas. It feels expensive. It feels easier. Plaza has a wonderful sale on canvas going on right now, so I was able to treat myself to a couple of stretched linen canvases, mmmm. I'm not great at architectural things, but I think this one turned out nicely.

Peppers and Cups - SOLD

Cups and Peppers Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. This one was fine until I started to paint the stripes. I gave myself an occular migraine, staring at the stripes. It turned out busier than I thought it would. Oh, well, it's fun and cheerful anyway. (Though I think I'll be putting this cloth away.)

Rock Wall and Maples - SOLD

Rock Wall and Maples Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14" SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping. This one is from the Wauwinet Road (Barre, MA) photos. Yes, you're right, I need some new material! Can't wait for our colors here in Maryland. On a separate note, I started my oil painting class, and what a lovely bunch of ladies ("sweet chickens", to borrow an affectionate name from my daughters' past) I get to teach. Interested, hard working painters, every one. Eager to learn and improve, and what a joy to teach. Those of you who read my blog, we are going to have such fun!

Maples and Fog - SOLD

Maples and Fog Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping. Another painting with a fall flavor.

Top of the Hill, Autumn - SOLD

Top of the Hill, Autumn Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping. We aren't here yet, but it's beginning to color up nicely with our cool fall weather here in Maryland. Time to think about fall colors.

Large Peony - SOLD

Large Peony

Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas

24" x 24" x 1.5"

SOLD at $250.00, includes shipping.

This one is big, and gallery wrapped, so no frame is required. I have a photo I took of Massachusetts peonies, very subtle colors, and have been meaning to use it for awhile now. The soft changes in value were tricky here. Two days in the painting, it feels good to post this one now.

Red Bowl with Pears, NA

Red Bowl with Pears Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8" Revised on 11/20/2010. A quick still life study today. Thanks for looking.

Faceless Drama, Pansies - SOLD

Faceless Drama, Pansies Oil on Art Board, 8" x 8" x .5" Painted on Edges, no frame required. SOLD at $40.00 plus $5.00 shipping. I picked these guys because of the colors, even though they had no faces. The orange ones are just so neat.
