This is the uncropped version. Since it's a canvas panel, a framer could easily take a jigsaw to it, and I think the shorter version works better. Just those few inches off, makes a better composition. It's a lovely place to sit, watch the sunset, read a book, feel the breezes, listen to the seagulls.

Usually with the gallery wrapped canvases, I extend the painting all around, but with this one, I plan to just paint a solid "frame" color (I am thinking grey blue) around the top, sides, and bottom. We've had a lot of rain here last night and this morning, so it was the porch for me and my paints. The porch is very appealing, great place to sit and visit, read, play games, all screened in so you get the lovely breezes, but no buggies.

Sitting on the dock, and when it started to cloud over and rain, it actually felt really nice. The oils aren't bothered by water, so I simply painted in the sprinkles. Beautiful multi-colored sky.

Buildings are really not my forte, even though I love the look of them in other painters' work. But every once in awhile I try. This one I used mostly palette knife, and tried mostly for the values, without paying too much attention to exacting lines and angles.

I have the lovely opportunity to be at "The Beach House" again this summer, and oh, how wonderful. Today was just glorious, and I had fun painting all morning. This is a view from just before the dock. No blending, just rough brush work, with sunshine and shadow making wonderful contrasts.

I think these are my favorite kind of pears, to paint that is. I don't know of any pears that aren't delicious, except soggy ones or mushy ones. Ya know? But these are particulary fun to paint with the half red and half ochre colors.
