Sun Faces
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping.
This is better, but still not quite what I'm after. I think my sunflowers are still good for another try, so it'll be more of these again tomorrow. I tried a different method today, outlining the petals first and starting with the shadow colors, but it wasn't quite right. Another try tomorrow.

Sunflowers - SOLD
Sunflowers
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD.
I had a request for sunflowers, and saw some beauties at the Whole Foods market in our downtown Silver Spring area, so picked these up. The lady was nice enough to let me split the bunches to pick and choose the best ones. You'll be seeing more of these guys, but not so big as this painting. Sunflowers are really difficult to paint, I haven't figured them out yet, but I'm happy enough with this first one of the series.

Oranges with White Bowl - SOLD
Oranges with White Bowl
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
SOLD at $70.00 plus shipping
Today I used the same still life, very simple, but used all the color I wanted. (I did cut a fresh ornage for the slices.) Actually, it was more difficult than yesterday's. More options, more color matching efforts.

Study in Orange and Blue - SOLD
Study in Orange and Blue
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
SOLD
This one is done only in two colors plus white. I chose Prussian Blue and a mix of Cadmium Orange and Winsor Orange ( a reddish orange color.) It's done with this artists network challenge in mind, (and up for winning is $50.00 worth of books from North Light. )
Also, my niece, Emily, is getting trained and preparing to serve on the mission field in Kenya for a year, and raising her support money. Her blog is here. She is very excited about becoming a dorm resident director at one of the mission schools in Kenya. The proceeds from this painting will go to her support, and I will chip in for shipping. Please consider what you would like to pay for the painting... I am suggesting between $50 and $100 to make a small dent in her financial needs. Thanks in advance.

Summer Daydreaming - SOLD
with Detail of Foliage
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 16"
SOLD at $80.00 plus shipping.
This one turned out so well, I think. I really like the foliage on it, there's some nice touches of earthy brown (Transparent Red Oxide) showing. Farm buildings nestled across a grassy field, with a summer sky clearing above.
