A combination painting, some brushwork, some palette knife work. I do like the palette knife for foliage, but not so much for sky and water, though I did use it a little in both areas. I really am happy with the sky in this one, and if you wanted to, you could saw the bottom of the painting right off, to accentuate the sky more. I mean, of course, if you bought it, you could, LOL.

I think I like the bottom one best - the light is so beautiful! Gesso board sounds like a good surface to work on - do you buy it already prepared?
