I've been pretty much out of commission for about a week with what I'm thinking must have been food poisoning. Pretty yucky all around. But I was feeling better enough today to settle in and paint. Starting to feel a little stronger again. Side note: the paper is an off white, but much whiter than this. The house light bulbs give it this tinge.

Once again, I have run out of canvas, and am using painting income to do shipping. So it's time for a watercolor or two. This one is basically from my imagination, twisty and frilly. The blue one is (intended to be) two irises, one behind the other.

Iris in Lavender and Green - SOLD

Iris in Lavender and Green Watercolor on 140 lb CP Arches Paper, 13" x 19" image area SOLD.

Iris in Lavender and Green, Detail

This is something a bit different for me, in doing watercolor. I taped the edges and used the whole image area to paint in. With mask I protected the edges of the petals, and then floated in color wet-on-wet behind the flowers. It got a little rough and messy, so there was a lot of layering and lifting to do to the background after it all dried. But even though it's different for me, it's also kind of cool. Thanks for looking.

Purple Iris Profusion - SOLD

Purple Iris Profusion Watercolor on Lanaquarelle, 300 lb paper, full sheet 22.5" x 30" Sold at $130.00 plus $20 shipping. This is another of the drawn-out but not painted paintings. It's on a full sheet of Lanaquarelle, which is an incrdibly soft paper. I don't remember using it to paint on before, but the paint doesn't run nearly as much as on other paper I've used, and it works well for the modeling I do on the petals. This one took a lot of time, and I'm pleased with the final result. Thanks for looking.
