Undone and in Transition - SOLD

Undone and in Transition Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD. I have been discussing emotions with one of my earliest and most supportive collectors, who has encouraged me to try to put more emotion into my work. Even though I can't imagine anyone wanting to hang this half modern sketchy and half traditional painting on their wall, I thought I would try to show a little more feeling on the canvas. Apartment hunting and personal worries have left me feeling "undone and in transition." I'm actually rather pleased with how it looks. Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/

Petunias Take One - NA

Petunias Take One Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 8" x 8" x 1.25" Not available. Canvas was reused on July 25, 2010. I thought it would be so simple, but the color of the petunias completely eluded me. I have lovely oil colors in the mauves and purples, so I'm sure it was "operator error" and I'm determined to try these guys again, see if I can't get the colors and that velvety look closer. Meanwhile, take one. This is another gallery wrapped canvas, so no frame is needed. Thanks for looking. Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/

Burton's Island Revisited - SOLD

Burton's Island Revisited Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14" SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping. It's really hot here in DC for the past few days, makes me think of water; lakes, oceans, bays, being at the shore....so I paint it instead. I've priced this one low, since I need to renew my DP Gallery membership, which is the price of this painting. Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/

Hydrangeas and Pears - SOLD

Hydrangeas and Pears Oil on Stretched Canvas, 14" x 18" SOLD at $80.00 plus shipping. Are you tired of seeing hydrangeas yet? Maybe I'll give it a rest. This one is pretty big, compared to my usual, and though it was a little different technique for me, I am happy with the results. Here you see the entire still life, as I originally set it up, but this time with a cool brown glazed pitcher. The pears finally made it into the scene. Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/

Cherries Perched - SOLD

Cherries Perched
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 8"
SOLD at $40.00 plus shipping.
Correct color below in detail.

I included the detail here, since it shows better the color of the cloth napkin, which is a teal/turquoise color, very neat with the reds of the cherries. Another piece with the brushstrokes showing. Nel

Cherries in a Mortar - SOLD

Cherries in a Mortar Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 10" SOLD at $65.00 plus $5.00 shipping. I've priced this one high (for me), despite the size, since it has a lot of detail and took me the best part of the day yesterday, with small breaks to move the sprinkler around the yard. It's done mostly with the "apply and leave" style, which I am enjoying right now. Doesn't it feel French in some way to you? Maybe it's the stripes... I had to look up which was the mortar and which the pestle. Ahhh, this is the mortar. Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/

Hydrangeas in Pitcher - SOLD

Hydrangeas in Pitcher Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. Only one painting from these beauties? No way. So here's another, and I really feel as though I want to try it again still. I like the pottery on this one, little touches of light blue, dark blue, lavender, browns. When you study a thing, you start to see all the color nuances, and I love how it all works. Happy 4th to all of you picnicing, grilling, partying, watching fireworks. And in Louisiana, turning a neighborhood into a private fireworks show! (have fun, Natales!) Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/

Cherries with Copper Pot

Cherries with Copper Pot Oil on Stretched Canvas, 5" x 7" Available at $50.00 plus $5.00 shipping Have you bought cherries yet this summer? I could not believe the price at the DC Safeway, wowza! So I bit the bullet and bought some anyway; filled this little copper pot (from the laundry room) with a bunch, but only painted three in front of the pot. Another cherry painting coming up, while I munch on a few as well. Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com

Victorian Lady Pansies - SOLD

Victorian Lady Pansies
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 5" x 5" x 1.25"
SOLD to my Pansy Collector
Detail Below

My cousin still had a few gasping pansies (getting too hot for these little guys), and I noticed this color, so very lovely. I have a collector who adores pansies, and had mentioned pink pansies as something she might want, so this one is for her. Sort of a soft pinky lavender, and it looks like something in a Victorian style, doesn't it?

Burnt Orange Pansies - SOLD

Burnt Orange Pansies Wrapped Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 8" x 10" x 1.25" SOLD. This one is for a collector who missed out on the burnt orange pansies last time, and requested a slightly larger one with gallery wrapped edges. I hope she likes it! I clipped a few lavender ones left in the garden, and they said it would be okay if I changed their color. Gracious little pansies. Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/

Hal's Hydrangeas - SOLD

Hal's Hydrangeas Oil on Gallery Wrapped Linen, 11" x 14" x 1.25" SOLD at $80.00 plus shipping. It's been awhile since I've posted, and it's because I've waited for paintings to dry, anticipating a little move. I'm house sitting for my favorite cousins (it's their way of giving me a little vacation, their place is so lovely.) I feel like I'm on sabbatical or something, or maybe at a retreat. Anyway, I found one of their handmade pottery pitchers ( made by my cousin) and clipped some nice hydrangea stems, and set it up with the soft yellow wall in shadow as background. It's the rougher type of painting I sometimes do and I like how it came out. The painting will continue around the sides, so no frame is needed. Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/

Coral Irises Set - SOLD

Coral Irises One and Two
Watercolor on 140 lb watercolor paper, 8" x 19" each
SOLD
Awhile back I did a full sized peony watercolor, and now these two are to be bookends to that piece, and to match corals in the decor of the room. The background color of the paper is actually the same, since they are painted on the same sheet of paper, but I adjusted them each a little differently. Didn't they turn out nicely?

Inviting Path Four - SOLD

Inviting Path Four
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $65.00 plus $10.00 shipping.
Since the collector who graciously bought Inviting Path Three really wanted a lighter look, and had asked me to lighten that one up, I decided to just paint one more of these guys, same size, but everything a little lighter. So she'll have her pick between Three and Four. Whichever one she doesn't want will become available.
Note: She picked this one, the lighter version, so Three is available.

Pears and Lemons on Chartreuse - SOLD

Pears and Lemons on Chartreuse Oil on Canvas Panel, 10" x 10" SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping. The texture of a palette knife piece makes for an interesting still life painting, but I think I'll stick to landscapes for knife paintings, the precise edges of bowls and such are difficult with the knife. Hope all the dads out there have had a lovely Father's Day! I helped my two year old granddaughter, Kayla, cook a nice dinner for her daddy, but she refused to give up the balloon intended for "Daeey", saying "Balloon, mine!" in no uncertain terms. Lonely Pear - SOLD

Lonely Pear Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8" SOLD at $20.00 plus $7.00 shipping. Back to my brushes today for a bit. It seemed like such fast painting, after all the palette knife work. Doesn't this pear look lonely, like he missed the boat? Not the best composition, so I priced it low. It might appeal to someone for the colors. Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/

Inviting Path Three - NA

Inviting Path Three Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" Not available, revised on 9/24/10
This one is by request, for someone who wanted the second Inviting Path, but it was already sold. I think I'm done for the moment. Hope you haven't gotten too bored, looking at these. It's actually kind of fun, seeing how they turn out so varied, even though you're trying each time for the same thing.
Note: The collector chose the 4th version of this, which is lighter.
This one is available, but in it's revised version. Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/

Dappled Creek Two - NA

Dappled Creek Two Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14" Revised July 24, 2010. This one is repeat of the painting I posted on May 7. Again, a combination piece, both brushwork and palette knife. The water seems to feel better with brushwork, and the sky, but I love doing foliage with the knife. Thanks for looking! Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/

Fieldwork Two - SOLD

Fieldwork Two Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8" SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping. I liked the little square canvas of this field corner so much, that I painted it again. Isn't it interesting how differently two paintings of the same scene can turn out? Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com

Fieldwork One -SOLD

Fieldwork One Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8" SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping. I have a photo of a farm scene (from Butler's Orchard), which I've used before, but cropped it way down to just a corner of a hillside, love the colors. Palette knife work again. Inviting Path Two - SOLD

Inviting Path Two Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping. One of my regular collectors wanted the painting from day before yesterday, and so I painted the same thing again. Acceptance of a redo is always optional, so if you're interested in this one, send an email. Nel http://nelseverydaypainting.blogspot.com/
