I am more and more enamored of brush work, what you can do with it. Today I took a bristle brush, which I don't generally use, and just went at an imaginary landscape, swishing paint. I love the texture of thick paint, don't you? I am also intrigued with the lovely grays you can mix, so this one is pretty much high key with lots of gray.

Red Passion Hydrangeas 3 - SOLD

Red Passion Hydrangeas 3 Oil on Stretched Canvas, 9" x 12" SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping. This is my last experiment with the Red Passion Hydrangeas. I think this will be the way I'll handle the larger painting. I sat down and actually drew these out tight on the canvas, sprayed the drawing with fixative, and painted loosely. This way I'll have a choice on a large canvas whether to go realistic in spots and loose in others. I like it, plan to do about five blooms on the larger painting.

Double Magnolias - SOLD

This is actually the first time I've seen it, since it's so big that when I worked on it yesterday and today, I really couldn't "see" it, it's too big to see it up close. I'm glad it turned out as well as it did! The wrap will be painted in the blue green, muted tones of the background. The edges to the wall are 1.5" in depth. No framing needed. Thanks for looking.

Apple Wedges - SOLD

I like it, I'm pushing paint around with the brush as much as stroking it. Neat. I know, very slight difference, but it's those tiny increments that move us in a new direction.

Another set of Chintz fabric paintings. These have a wrap of 1 and 1/2" and are intended to be hung without framing. The pattern is extended around all four sides, though I expect some of it won't show in the hanging. Tricky to handle wet paintings to paint their edges, but I wanted to use the colors while I had them mixed.

This is the first set of two of either Cretonne or Chintz fabric painting. One of my collectors sent me an arm chair cover of this fabric, and I'm having fun making up paintings to match it. The next set will have a 1.5" wrap, so no framing will be needed. On to the next set.
