Apple Wedges - SOLD

Apple Wedges Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8" SOLD at $30.00 plus shipping. Changes and variations are sometime subtle. Today I noticed a slight change in the way I'm doing my brushwork. I like it, I'm pushing paint around with the brush as much as stroking it. Neat. I know, very slight difference, but it's those tiny increments that move us in a new direction.

Chintz Painting 3 and 4- SOLD

Chintz Paintings 3, and 4
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 6" x 6"
Wrap of 1.5", pattern extended.
SOLD at $80.00 the set plus shipping.
Another set of Chintz fabric paintings. These have a wrap of 1 and 1/2" and are intended to be hung without framing. The pattern is extended around all four sides, though I expect some of it won't show in the hanging. Tricky to handle wet paintings to paint their edges, but I wanted to use the colors while I had them mixed.

Chintz Painting 1 and 2 - SOLD

Chintz Paintings 1 and 2
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 6" x 6" with .5" wrap, painted in the dark color
SOLD the set at $70.00 plus shipping.
This is the first set of two of either Cretonne or Chintz fabric painting. One of my collectors sent me an arm chair cover of this fabric, and I'm having fun making up paintings to match it. The next set will have a 1.5" wrap, so no framing will be needed. On to the next set.

Goldens Posing - SOLD

Goldens Posing Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 16" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. The lemons fit on my little stand better than these guys, but since I had the canvas, I thought I'd give them a whirl. They didn't turn out as interesting as the wonderfully colored Seckel pears, but still neat to paint.

October Turning Trees - SOLD

October Turning Trees
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping.
Even though I had scheduled more requests today, it is one of those absolutely glorious fall days, pure blue sky, sunshine, warm, but crisp. Ahhh. So I went outdoors and found these trees just past the cut-through that I've painted before. Beautiful to sit outside and paint, especially now that I've had some recent plein air time. It really isn't so much about the painting today, as just having an excuse to be out in the beauty of it all.

Blue Apples 2 - SOLD

Blue Apples 2 Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8" SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping. There was more response to my silly blue apples than I had imagined, and one of my collectors requested a redo, so this one is for her. These are blatantly blue, but same idea, playing with values, not colors.

Floral Blues, Hydrangeas - SOLD

Floral Blues, Hydrangeas Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. Little by little, I am catching up on some of my requests. Of course, I do the easier ones first, so here's another hydrangea painting done on request. If you are waiting for a painting, I'm getting there!

Deep Sienna Iris - SOLD

Deep Sienna Iris Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 16" SOLD at $125.00, includes shipping. I was doing a small iris this morning for a commission, and just kept on going, with this lovely dramatic iris. I've used the photo before, and every once in awhile, a big old iris is just what I want to paint.

Tiny Cradled Iris 2 - SOLD

Tiny Cradled Iris 2 Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas, 6" x 6" Sides 1.5" Extension from Wall SOLD Side Details, top and bottom will also be painted. No frame needed. This one is sold to a collector who liked the first Tiny Cradled Iris.

Woodland Light 2 - SOLD

Woodland Light 2 Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 16" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. This one is a repeat of an earlier painting, done for one of my collectors. Don't you like the strong sense of light? (The shore line is actually straight in the painting.)

Fall Goldens - SOLD

Fall Goldens Oil on Stretched Canvas, 9" x 12" SOLD at $50.00 plus shipping. Looser than I usually paint, lots of color and swish, but still paying some attention to color and shadows. I think this might be a new direction to explore.

Softly Hydrangeas - SOLD

Softly Hydrangeas Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. Another request painting, and I really enjoyed the colors on this one. That nice almost mauve, almost green color of the drying blooms is really fun, along with creams. Yum colors. We'll see if the colors are right for the collector, since I used word descriptions and intuition. Postscript: They were, she loved it.

Red Passion Hydrangea Two - SOLD

Red Passion Hydrangea Two Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. I am playing with the red hyrdrangeas again, seeing what I can do with them. There was more response to the first one than I anticipated, so this one was promised as "first dibs" to someone who asked. I tried for more definition here, from dark to light, doing an underpainting on the dark side of the two blooms.

Blue Apples - SOLD

Blue Apples Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 8" SOLD at $45.00 plus shipping. Okay, I'm not sure quite what I'm doing here, but I enjoyed doing the Wayne Thiebaud copy so much that I wanted to try something entirely different from my usual stuff. I actually like this one, it's just plain juicy. It was and wasn't easy to let myself look at lovely goldens and paint them blue, but it's fun anyway.

Copy of Candy Apples, Wayne Thiebaud - SOLD

Copy of Candy Apples, by Wayne Thiebaud Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14" SOLD. Well this was just plain fun. One of my collectors wanted a copy of a Wayne Thiebaud piece, she likes his work so much. We agreed on this one, since I also wanted to do it, and this is what resulted. I cannot imagine the skill involved in being an art forger (what's the word?). I would find it impossible to copy every swish and wiggle and stroke, but this was fun to imitate, all the lush and thick, goopy paint he used. His sticks are truly straight, I wonder if he didn't paint them once the rest of the painting was dry. That's what I'm planning to do anyway, to get the wonderful clarity on the sticks.

Heading Home - NA

Heading Home Oil on Canvas Panel, 9" x 12" Not Available, in memory of Nate For this little painting, I tried to get the feeling of a quiet sunset, with that lovely sight and sound of geese heading home. Honking their way across the sky, in loose and fluid "V" shapes. This one is for my cousin's friends, who have recently lost a son. I thought it might be a comfort.

Red Passion Hydrangea - SOLD

Red Passion Hydrangea Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12" SOLD at $75.00 plus shipping. I have a commission for a large painting with these flowers. (I got mine at Michaels. ) So I'm playing around here with ideas for how best to paint them. It's good to experiment, but I'm still not quite sure how I'll do a large painting with them. Maybe petal by petal?

First Touch of Fall - SOLD

First Touch of Fall Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 16" SOLD at $100.00 plus shipping. I had this one that didn't sell, called The Cut Through. I was sitting outside and looking at the same scene this morning, and noticed that some of the colors are just starting to change, so I played some more with it, and now I like it. I added loads of warms and cools, some spots of changing leaf color, but mostly kept the same basic shapes. It just seems richer and more interesting now.

Mom's Magnolia - SOLD

Mom's Magnolia Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 16" SOLD at $125.00 plus shipping. This one is done by request, as a gift for a "Mom". I do like doing the magnolia faces.

Garlic Flower - SOLD

Garlic Flower Oil on Stretched Canvas, 6" x 6" SOLD at $35.00 plus $5.00 shipping. I found some garlic in the fridge, popped them in a bowl, and am relearning how to paint. I pointed the stems all inward, and it looks a bit like a flower to me, hence the name.
