At Walmart this past week, on the end cap, were all these "homey" little bouquets for $4.87 apiece; nothing exotic, hut nice little quotidien flowers. They are lasting pretty well. I bought two since my budget was $10.00 and I am happy with my babies. Today I want to try it in acrylics, and then maybe a third to get more abstract. We'll see how they last.

The fish eye effect on the painting image; I don't know how to get rid of or avoid, sorry. The weaving strips are not that curved. This is basically two floral paintings on paper treated with an experimental base (Plaster of Paris mixed with Gesso). (see below for example) When those florals were boring, I cut them both up and wove them. Then applied Gel Medium and glued them to yet another piece of paper, so the whole thing is a bit thick, and a bit "lumpy", but will not need glass. It is an ode to summer, that precious and fleeting season that really only lasts 2 and a half months. While sadly, winter gets 5 months. Now, is that fair, I ask you? LOL.

Just in case you haven't had enough talk, distraction, news, jokes, and conversation about the election, here's one more thing. I wanted to commemorate the season in an artistic way, and this is what came out of it. Mostly acrylic, some markers and oddball pencil work. Since it's on paper, it can easily be cropped.

 So, some semi abstract work for you this week. I think I've been influenced by the overcast, rainy weather we've been having here in Maryland, with a few glimpses of sunshine interspersed. At any rate, I've had some fun working with collage, crayons, paint, markers, pencils...
