Fall Colors Quietly - SOLD
Fall Colors Quietly
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 10"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.
I wanted Fall, but I wanted something a little less colorful, so I found a good reference photo, and here's what came out. More of the red browns, darker water and more purples give this one a more calm look and feel (as compared to the color blasts that I've been loving and painting.)

Village Lane Watercolor - SOLD
Village Lane Watercolor
Watercolor on Arches Paper, 13" x 16"
SOLD at $15 plus $10 shipping.
I got in my email, a post from Bob Davies at Art Tutor, and liked the step-by-step so much, I decided to give it a whirl. I think it must be an English village scene; the reference photo was most appealing. Of course I played, so this one is a bit overworked, with gouache and pastel over the watercolor, but hey, I was playing. And yes, I want to try it again.
Here's the link if you'd like to see how different my results are from Bob's.

Autumn Reds - SOLD
Autumn Reds
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD at $125.00, includes shipping (Continental US only)
I found a good fall photo reference, which was all reds and greens. Lovely.
This landscape painting isn't quite as subtle as my beautiful reference, but I'm very happy with it.
More often I go for the bright yellows, but this is nice, yes?

Four Painting Commission
Here's what I've been doing lately.
(Published with permission from the buyer.)
These have been done as a wedding gift for a bride of Japanese descent marrying a groom from Georgia, hence the Cherry Blossoms, the Cherokee Roses (state flower of Georgia), the Red-Crowned Cranes and the Georgia Peaches. Each is 10" x 10" x 1.5", on gallery wrapped canvas.
All are painted top, sides and bottom, but I'll just show the one side, here.

Misty Morning - SOLD
Misty Morning
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD at $40 plus $10 shipping.
We had some great fog the other morning, so I found a photo to go along with the feeling. Nice, hanging mistiness over the water, and in the low lying areas.

The Last Peaches - SOLD
The Last Peaches
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 10" x 10"
SOLD
I have a commission for a painting of peaches, so scouted around...aha, Walmart still has peaches, so bought some. Very pretty. Knowing in advance that they would be inedible, since they were hard as hockey pucks. Isn't it sad when you buy fruit already knowing you won't be able to eat it? But at least I have some models for my commission piece.

Cherry Blossom Oil Sketch - SOLD
Cherry Blossom Sketch
Oil on Linen Panel, 8" x 8"
SOLD
My large easel is out for repair right now. Over the years, my oils and solvents had corroded the little shelves where the paintings were propped, so a handyman at church is building me some new canvas perches. All that by way of telling yu that the little blue shadow on the left is from my plein air easel, which has little metal prongs to hold canvas.
I have a commission for cherry blossoms, and did something I'm not sure about, so I thought I'd play on a used canvas, nonthreatening. The demise of the little watermelon piece. Sweet, isn't it?

Here and there are small touches of color; the sycamores on the way to the library are already ochre.
So, here's a little fall preview.

September Air
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"

I used the same reference as yesterday, but I had a lot more room to play.
Or at least if felt like a lot more room. Didn't it turn out nicely?

The Leading Edge of Fall - SOLD
The Leading Edge of Fall
Oil on Linen Panel, 9" x 12"
SOLD.
Yesterday I struggled with another beach person, but I hated the result, it just didn't have any oomph to it. I think the colors were too pale, I was too shy about it all. I think you'll see what I mean, below. I am waiting for her to dry, and then I'll go at it with some vigor, and some richer color (at least that's the plan.) Maybe put some water behind her as well. Too much sand.

Dude, I Got This! - SOLD
Dude, I Got This!
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 10"
Sold to his Opa (Dutch for Grandpa)
Detail (Close-Up) Below:
This is Logan, with the supreme confidence of a spectacular 2-yesr old! He was "leading" a big, lovable dog around the house during a gathering of beach house friends. The hound was, of course, twice as big as he was, but "Dude! I Got This", with that sweet casual lean, little foot tweaked and resting. He's extremely verbal, so no trouble relating to anyone.

I actually paddled in the red kayak, Yay, me!
I thought it would be harder than it was. Fun memories.

It's a Summer Thing
Oil on Linen Panel, 8" x 8"
Not Available.
Watermelon! Such a summer food. I tried to cut a slice, but it wouldn't stand up for me, tipped right over into my paints, so I contented myself with a wedge instead. On my sandstone base.

Westminster Peaches - SOLD
Westminster Peaches
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 8" x 16"
SOLD at $40 plus $10 shipping.
My search for good peaches continues. Out of the five that I bought at the grocery store last week, only one was edible, and that just barely. (Even though they were nice to paint.) So I asked at church, where a farm stand might be, and went yesterday to get tomatoes and peaches. The guy said that these had been picked in Westminster, MD Saturday morning. So we'll see. Meanwhile, certainly "paint worthy."

Two Peaches
Oil on Linen Panel, 5" x 7"
SOLD at $8 plus $7 shipping.
This probably doesn't look like much of an achievement, but I finally found (again) the combination of colors for that subtle mauve purple magenta that you see on peach skins. Yay!

Eastern Shore Peaches - SOLD
Eastern Shore Peaches
Oil on Canvas Panel, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $10 plus $10 shipping.
Honestly, one of the best parts of going to the beach is the wonderful food. There are "traditional" stops at great farm stands along the way, between the DC area and the Delaware shore. The tomatoes, the peaches and the corn...oh, my...heavenly. We had peaches! Oh, my, did we have peaches!
So juicy, so perfectly peachy! I've bought some since at the local grocery stores, and you can't even eat them, they are so bad...mushy and mealy and dry. (All they are good for is painting!)
