Don Victor Honey - SOLD

Don Victor Honey
Oil on Canvas Panel, 6" x 6"
SOLD at $25 plus $10 shipping.

Don't you love browsing in the foreign (to you) sections of the grocery store? Fascinating the foods that are available from other cultures. I especially like poring over the "Spanish food" aisles, and found this lovely jar of honey right there. I did go and scout the "regular, normal" honey, and there was nothing as interesting or appealing as this jar, made in Texas, with a comb tucked inside.

A nice, yellow pepper from the grocery store, a portrait turned and painted twice.

Plums with Strawberry - SOLD

Plums with Strawberry
Oil on Linen Panel, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.

This one used to have polka dots in the background. (April 15th post.) I painted them out easily enough, and shaded the front of the sandstone pedestal. Cleaner for sure.

Evening Glow - SOLD

Evening Glow
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"

My friend B gave me lots of her sunset ocean photos to work with. I liked this one for the subtle colors, and that nice glow everywhere.

Plums with Strawberry and Polka Dots - NA

Plums with Strawberry and Polka Dots
Oil on Linen Panel, 8" x 8"
Not available, revised on 5/3/2016

And just for fun, I thought I would also include the actual still life. Though by the time I shot this photo, I had turned my light off, so the highlights are missing.

Monet's Garden - SOLD

Monet's Garden
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD

This one was a bit of a trick. It was done from a follow-along with Johannes, but with much revision, since he was working small in pastels, which is a much more layering medium than oils, and I am working large in oils. After some struggling, though, I'm happy with the results.

Plums on Sandstone Pedestal - SOLD

Plums on Sandstone Pedestal
Oil on Linen Panel, 8" x 8"
SOLD at $20 plus $10 shipping.

One of the things my friend B and I like to do when she comes thru town (to and from Florida, as a snowbird) is scour the aisles at Tuesday Morning, and see what bargains we can find. I found this sandstone (at  least I think it is) kleenex cover (maybe) on the clearance shelves. "Oh, B," says I "That would make a wonderful still life  prop, for sitting things on!" and so she bought it for me. What a bosom bud! And what a nice prop, don't you think?

In the Time of Blossoms - SOLD

In the Time of Blossoms
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD at $125

I really like the way this one turned out, in fact I like it so much that I want to paint it again sometime. The blossoms this year were so lovely, I don't remember a Spring (though I'm old enough now that there MUST have been one) when I enjoyed the sight of the trees so much. Beautiful.
I'm happy with the colors in this one as well, all magenta, lavenders, and greens; it works doesn't it?

Rose Glazed Magnolia - SOLD

 Rose Glazed Magnolia
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 12" x 12"
SOLD.

And because I had to crop so much of the edges, here it is in context:

This one has a glaze of pink on it, fairly subtle, but you can see it if you know it's there.

Fall Serenity - SOLD

Fall Serenity
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD

This one turned out well, I think. At least I'm happy with it.
No matter that what I'm seeing off the balcony is all Spring...blooming trees, forsythia, cherry blossoms, redbuds (oh, they are so lovely right now!) and that beautiful blush of red where the buds are sprouting new growth on tree tops.Sweet days, God is good!

Blooming Cherry - SOLD

Blooming Cherry
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 11" x 14"
SOLD

The trees are in bloom everywhere, and it's stunning. Along some streets, there are whole rows of cherrys and probably crabapples? I'm not sure what the white ones are. Apricot? Peach? At any rate, they are gorgeous. I'll do a few more before they're gone.

Misty Waterfall Revised - SOLD

Misty Waterfall, Revised
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD.

I revised yesterday's painting a little, deepened the blue, toned down the little bush, added another misty tree in the background. I wish you could see it in person, it's really quite lovely.

Misty Waterfall - SOLD

Misty Waterfall
Oil on Stretched Canvas, 16" x 20"
SOLD.

In spite of the rocks (I don't like doing them, simply because I'm not good at rocks, mine always look like bread loaves.) this one was nice to paint, and I think I might try it again sometime. My pine trees are getting better too, I think.

Sake Bottle with Lemon - SOLD

Sake Bottle with Lemon
Oil on Linen Panel, 7" x 5"
SOLD.

Oh, I'm excited that I was able to mix just the right color for the little sake bottle, which is a sort of ceramic tannish-greenish-orangeish. I know, tricky color! The background line is actually straight, but the photo is a bit off. Sorry.
